Intentional Communities

hi how far you should go in being a prepper sort of depends on your eschatology. I see Jesus told us to occupy until he comes for us and in Luke
34 “But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. 35 For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy[fn] to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.” I agree with you the scope of what is coming upon the earth is unavoidable and becoming increasingly obvious the momentum and direction things are going. The words of the prophets are overtaking this generation. Getting off the grid is a pretty practical idea but perhaps we can be more useful on the grid and look up for our redemption draws near. If I had my own provision and those I knew around me had none how could I refuse them? I look at Rev 6 and see that as a certain future so the question is are we here for that? If yes maybe you are right and if not why run for it?

My husband and I SERIOUSLY prepped for Y2K (he requested a lay-off from his career, we sold most everything, grabbed our kids, left the city and moved high in the mountains off grid for 4 years. We loved it!) My spirit is nudging me to get serious about prepping again.

Do we have a map (basic regions) of prepper locations where people want to create/have created intentional communities? I would LOVE to connect with like-minded people in a proximal locale. We didn't have that last time (tho YHVH led us to a wonderful secular community on that mountain!) For 18 months + before the calendar rolled over, we spoke with many pastors in our city, talked to friends and family, held meetings in our home, basically shouted from the rooftops about the possible catastrophe, complete with well-documented experts in the computer/electric grid worlds. Nobody wanted to bight the bullet and jump in to help build; yet, they all wanted a safe/prepped place to run to if things got nasty. Ugh.

The grid was safe through the rollover of the clocks from the 1900-1999 series to 2000 (Y2K). Computer systems were primitive then and people feared chaos would happen January 1, 2000. It was a bogus theory that was in the news like rumors of bad vaccines were in the news last year. In March 2000 the NASDAQ stock market started to crash. Retirement accounts became worth much less. I bought my first home in 2001, a co-op apartment a mile from Capitol Hill.

I am prepped. I live close to a Walmart. My credit card is paid down. I have an SUV to use in case of hurricane evacuation. I have some bags of bulk food. My home is paid for.

I worked Y2K right out of college in Greenwood SC. We spent about 6 months both updating 6 digit years to 8 digit years and converting from an old VAX system to an AS400 IBM system. My first real job as a programmer. Trial by fire.
