Romney has been in politics a lot longer than Gabbard, and his cousin, Huntsman, was the ambassador to Russia not that many years ago.Gabbard has also made a string of controversial statements relating to Russia and its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Writing on social media on the day Russia invaded, she said the war could have been prevented if the US and its Western allies had recognised Russia's "legitimate security concerns" about Ukraine's bid to join Nato.

CIA employees are not to publicly express their political opinions nor let those political opinions interfere with their jobs. They are servants of the people, and are supposed to accurately, with no political slant, report intelligence to the president, whether it be Joe or Kamala or Donald Trump. Those trying to undermine our Republic by pushing their own agendas need to be removed.
