Indecent E-mail!!!

Does anybody besides me get swamped with er ....indecent (putting it mildly) advertisements?
I know that I had a Spam advertisement that said that my name and E-mail had been sold to them on a list. I really suspect my Internet provider of being behind that!
Some of the E-mail I get is actually Graphical! I found a way to send most of the junk mail straight to the delete box from the sever, but still some gets through. I have tried all sorts of Spam blockers. I tried blocking the senders - there's just too many of them.
OK I'm babbling right now, but lately some of this stuff has been scaring me. Does anybody else have to deal with this trash or did the sickos just single me out to pick on!

Any suggestions on getting it stopped? I thought about changing my E-mail address but as I said I believe it's my Internet Provider thta is selling it and they're the only game in town.

I tried mailwaher and several other Ani-spam freeware programs. I just couldn't get all the bugs out to get them to run properly.
Why I suspect my Internet Provider of selling my name is because of these factors - I started getting the "dirty" stuff from the day I got the internet. I had a program called IDcide when I IE5, it told who was tracking me when I was on line and when they were tracking me. My Internet Provider was one of the ones tracking me. My firewall gives me the IP address of those trying to scan my ports or connect to my computer. I used the Symantec Security Check on line to track the IP - it was my Internet Provider. My firewall even reported a teadrop attack from them! Now, I'm not ruling out the fact that they could be testing the connection - but the Internet Provider I had before them had a filter that kept the stuff from ever reaching my computer -so why don't these guys do that? I can't change Providers, unfortunately, they're pretty much it around here. The only other one I found is owned by a very irresponsible fella who often turns the internet off on weekend because he doesn't want to fool with it.

I tried sending a reply to some of the supposed senders - but most of the time I get a report that the address was fake.
Hehe, I did get thought to a few of them. For those I reached, asking them to stop - if they sent me Spam after that, I threatened to have a lot of church folks get together and start spamming them with information on the salvation of their soles - they stopped!!
OK, now getting an E-mail address witha No. would be smart. If my IP isn't selling the info.
Right now we are trying to move back to the town we lived in before. If we can get moved I'll go back to Murlins (the IP I had before), they filtered the Spam into a junk box so I never got it.

I'll make a confession about something. Last night I got one of those Graphic spams that managed to slip through. I have a preview box and the graphics popped up before I could delete it. What those graphics were of - if I ever traced it, the sender could be behind bars for it! It actually upset me.

If we are still here this winter, I'll see about getting a new E-mail address.

Does anybody know how to work the message ruler in outlook express? That's how I got most of the junk to go strait to the delete box. I'm a little uncertain of using it to block stuff though - I'm concerned I may block something important.

I think my biggest concern is how to keep those fruitcakes from getting my address in the first place.

I may well try changing me E-mail address.
I think this time, I'll use a E-mail that isn't a real word. And put a No. in it somewhere.

Hmmmm, people are allowed to get away with spamming that filth, but I bet if Christians starting Spamming Bible Verses they'd find away to put a stop to it real fast!!

If Kids saw a picture of a teen with no cloths on over the internet, the Parents would get mad, If the kids saw a picture of Jesus over the internet the parents would go on the warpath!

I figured that stunt out about unsubscibing. I started to do that once to a spammer - but when they asked for my E-mail address, I caught on to the trick. If they wanted me to unsubscribe to it, they should have know my E-mail address to start with!

Good advice presented here about avoiding spam: delete it if you get it, never click on links inside, report it to the ISP and/or to the FTC or FBI if it's a criminal matter (i.e. child pr0n, the Nigerian letter would qualify as that).

I would also like to add another tip that has immensely helped me avoid getting spammed: if you post your e-mail address online, type NOSPAM into it. That makes it impossible for a spambot to use. (example: nobodyNOSPAM@.nowhere.com)

So far, following that advice, my ISP account has recieved very little spam. On average, I get 1-5 spam e-mails a month, most of which are for investment advice or home loans. My sister, with the same ISP, gets around 30 spam e-mails a day.

LOL, actually, the biggest problem I've had with indecent e-mail spams are "friendly fire" from people who see me on a board and are too dense to realize that I find hentai and yaoi disgusting, i.e. that person from otakuboards.com last week who sent me an e-mail inviting me to a yaoi site, one featuring the very fan pairing I had flamed for several reasons on the same board.

Actually, I was just making a point. People seem talent of the warped stuff that they're families are exposed to on a daily bases, but want absolutely nothing to do with God.
For the ones that I threatened to Spam with "getting saved" E-mail; I had contacted them the first time and informed them that this was a Christian home and asked them to stop sending that stuff. Some of them did stop, a few others made a point do spamming me more. Those were the ones I sent a second message to with threatening the salvation of their soles E-mail. they stopped after that.
Now I get the E-mail you can't trace or reply to. I checked into it enough to know that I'm simply on a list - my E-mail is just mixed with a bunch of others and senders apparently have it rigged to not receive replies.

As for actually spamming God around the internet. I don't go for that because too often trying to push God on somebody turns them away from him. All I was doing with those spammer I could contact is giving them a dose of there own medicine. As I said, I contacted a few at the beginning, the fact they sent me a second ...er, offensive E-mail - was spite on there part. But they didn't want to get stuff telling them how sinful they were anymore than I wanted their filth, so they stopped.


I've been experimenting with my message ruler lately. It's suppose to be able to set to block certain E-mail from even downloading from the sever - hasn't worked yet.
