  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

According to the bible Adam and Eve are the first humans on earth. Then they have children and their children have children. This is definitely incestuous behavior is it not? If man kind was started this way why is it something we frown upon today? Laws prohibit marriage of sister and brother or cousins when without this the human race would not exist. Why don’t we celebrate this instead of shun it? I mean if it wasn’t for incest none of us would be here today right?

Genetically speaking, the reasons against incest didn´t apply to A&E and their children.
Morally speaking, I don´t understand why incest is a taboo.

This is an old and tired argument. It has been around for centuries. It has been answered centuries ago. Why do you even bring this old tired argument up?

LISTEN AND USE YOUR BRAIN.

God let the very first family have incest. Duh! There was no one else around.

The gene pool was not as hammered as it is today. Remember that Adam and Eve were 100% absolutely perfect. The water they were drinking was perfect. The food from the ground was perfect. The air was perfect. ect..

It is only when the Law is given that God finally declares this activity wrong. There was no longer a need for incest and the gene pool had been tainted by then.

Now if you have incestuous sex it can lead to flipper armed babies or some other horrible birth defects. So don't do it!!! Duh!

Case closed, thread closed.

The Bible is the last resource one should look at, for incest to be against the law. If literally taken, incest took place at least twice. In the beginning with Adam and Eve, and then again with Noah and his family. David and Solomon had thousands of concubines, so there was probably incest involved with their children.

As a society, we frown down on it because they share the same DNA. Maybe there should've been an "I don't know" option on this poll.

Maybe when we have good genetic scans that can identify if there will be problems with a child between two people then it would not be much of an issue or a taboo. But for now it is better to play it safe.

The religious extremists <staff edit> have always have a morally relavent arguement. Their morality isn't based on whats good for people, what helps their fellow man. It's based on the interpreted writing of one book, <staff edit> I can not think of a moral subjective, relative morality than that. The only absolute in their morality is that they are right.

Wife's half sister or step sister is fine, though, right?

Wouldn't 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16 fall under 6? Why the redundancy? And 12-13 is one person, she must be a big girl (that's OK I have an aunt like that too). Oh and cute how you threw in the Mohamed thing, not relevant at all to this thread but it always strengthens one's own faith to tear down the faith of others doesn't it?

In other words, "Stop bringing up issues that make us tap dance around our faith."

Don't you wish. Their brains were obviously not perfect or they wouldn't have taken a bite of the apple. Whaaaa hoppin? God doze off for awhile when constructing their brains?

No, it's wrong and it says so in the Bible which Ishida has posted some facts about it.
Are you sure you want to start pulling stuff out of Leviticus? That's quite the dense forest of prohibitions. You probably can find a commandment against recycling 32 oz Gatorade bottles on Thursdays if you look hard enough.

I have to wonder, when someone tells me, a gay man, that God's Plan was one man and one woman, knowing that incest was then an inevitable part of God's plan.

Then, God changed his plan, apparently.

Um, good plan.

Now, I'm not God, but wouldn't two couples have prevented incest?
