And I suppose that "Jesus" is hebrew? The angel of God would give Christ a Greek/Latin name? Please explain.

actually the name he was given is Yashua. there is no "J" sound in the hebrew language...it actully sounds more like Joshua, but that was already used. just like several names across the world have the same root, but have different spellings and pronounciations

Excuse me?! In what way is this approach excessively literal?
What approach? My comment wasn't addressed to you.

The fact is that the Messiah is called both Jesus (of Nazareth) and Emmanuel, both of which are names (since you don't call someone a title, you address them using their title) that reflect different aspects of the Person and Natures of the Messiah.
I haven't said anything about whether Emmanuel is a name or something else - despite what precepts might have incorrectly inferred from what I have said.

?! (and you expect people to dignify this nonsense with a reply...talk about insulting peoples' intelligence)

Simonline.
Of course not - it's supposed to be nonsense.

I am sure you can agree with this, at the same time its imo dangerous to try and discredit our Savior because of such a minor detail as a name. I dont care if we call Him Bob or Joe or Bubba, the fact still remains that he healed many, raised the dead, died for our sins then came back to life! Maybe he wasnt specifically called Emmanuel but he was Emmanuel. I dont call my father "Father" I call him "Dad" that doesnt make him any less my father. Know what I mean?

Since it is the same approach that I use I think that I am entitled to ask the question (and there is no need to be so rude either)?
It wasn't intended to be rude - if fact I took a concious decision not to react rudely to: "and you expect people to dignify this nonsense with a reply...talk about insulting peoples' intelligence" - and I'm sorry if you read it that way - always a difficulty with a text only medium with no tone of voice.

I've not seen anything which has led me to believe your approach is overly literal so I can't answer your question the way it's framed.

But that's just it, everything you have said thus far (i.e. attempting to drive a wedge between the Messiah who is Jesus and the Messiah who is Emmanuel) has been complete nonsense?!

Simonline.
If I had said any of that it would be. I don't know if you are badly misundertanding everything I've said, or mistaking me for someone else.
