Acts 17:22: "Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars’ hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious."

The interpretation was clearly for those of Paul's day. Is there an APPLICATION for us today? Yeah. Just like ALL of God's Word.

Too many Christians today misread God's Word and seemingly have no knowledge of the dispensations of man or the ages spoken of and refered to in the Bible.

Hebrews 1:1: "God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,"

Many Christians, seem to fail to understand why we even have the Bible today. But God gave it to us for a purpose. In it He wrote EVERYTHING we need to know. EVERYTHING!

Because we are human and like to do things our own way, we don't like a lot of what we read so we change it, and we twist it, and we re interpret it and we even ignore it until we come up with some kind of compromise we like.

And then we TRY God and His patience. We pray and we ask for a sign, and we He gives it to us, we ask for another sign to confirm that, and when we get it we ask for a comfirmation of the confirmation, and then a confirmation of the confirmation of the confirmation and we keep on until God's patience runs out and says forget it, then we say AHA!!! I knew it. God was not in favor at all.

Same with Prophecies! We seek those and when we think we have one, we keep interpreting and re interpreting until we get the answer we want.

What a sin, shame, and disgrace and slap in the face of a Holy and Righteous God! What kind of God do we think we serve? What did He give us the Bible for? Is it not an instruction Book? Does He not tell us what we need to know in there?

If we have dreams, and we interpret 100 times till we get the desired results and we do the same with prophecies, and then we do the same with His Written Word, how are we to know what is real and true and what is not.

Let me give you a clue. If what you get is contrary to God's Written Word, it is not from God. He willl NEVER contradict Himself. He will never ADD to His Written Word for one person because that would make Him a liar as He has plainly said He is no respector of persons. And He will never add to His Word because that would indicate He was incompetent to get it right the first time or He somehow CHANGED, and He has clearly said in many places He changes NOT, and so He would have to admit He lied again.

No MY God is not a liar nor is He incompetent. He is Omniscient, Omnipresent, and Omnipotent. He is Almighty God!

He is a Holy and Righteous God and does not play games, nor does He trick His Children. He has given us all the knowledge we need to have and He has written it down in a Book we call the Bible.

Are we too superstitious? When rely on dreams and prophecies and man made intrepretations of those, you bet we are. It is time we took God at His Word and Read it! THAT is our guide, and He has given us The Holy Spirit to guide us into understanding.

AMEN Gerry !

The Bible provides stories and experiences of men and women of faith, and we can glean lessons from their obedience and devotion to God (think of Abraham, Job or Daniel), but also from their mistakes ( think of Judas, Simon, Peter and David). God's word equips us for our Christian walk. If the only book we ever read is the Bible, IF we do what it says, we will have everything we need, to prepare us for being a Christ-follower. The Scriptures are a gold mine of relationship advice. Just one example: I have lost count of how many times I have seen this work, but it amazes me every time. So simple, yet so profound:

Proverbs 15:1(NIV) A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

We all need to pause for a moment and thank GOD for this wonderful tool. Start really studying God's word. Don't just "surface-read" Go deep into the Word. Take advantage of this valuable tool God has given us. In some countries, we would be arrested for reading the Bible. Those of us who are able to open its pages and read the words, are so blessed. Yet sometimes we look at Bible-reading as a chore. We could learn a valuable lesson from those who don't have even one Bible. In some countries like Africa for example, people walk for mles in hopes of getting their own copy of the Bible. In spite of all our extensive knowledge and education, about this issue, they are wiser than we are....

Wonderful Post Gerry, your words are so,so true. Thank you so much for posting this reminder, as I too, lose sight of the importance of Scripture in everything that we do . May God bless you.
