That's FOXnews. One of the worse media outlets ever to exist. What they are not saying is Federal Charges against this individual had been filed long ago.

“If the State of California will not seek the full measure of justice against this individual, [the Justice Department] will,” Essayli said in a post on X. Essayli noted that pending charges — initially filed by his predecessor under the Biden administration — could land Oscar Eduardo Ortega-Anguiano in federal prison for up to 20 years if he is convicted of illegally reentering the country after being deported twice previously.""

I know it is just my opinion, but I actually like the restorative justice system similar to that found with the Afghan Pashtu people. For example, if someone was guilty of involuntary manslaughter of a man who had a family, his punishment would be essentially be requiring to pay child support and alimony for the rest of his life.

Not carrying a gun, it must be obvious to you I'm not driven by fear.
At night, I would park and walk in well-lit areas buy without "profiling" those who walk by.
I remember so vividly driving on the BQE to my hubby's company softball game. Way before Brooklyn was gentrified. My car overheated and I pulled off in perhaps Bedford-Stuy or Brownsville. A group of young black men standing on the corner came over and helped me get back on the road. They couldn't have been nicer. I wanted to give them something for their trouble but they refused. It taught me not to stereotype. If you respect others most of the time they'll respect you.

Who is carrying a gun? You or the others? Sure, you may not be driven by fear. But you are driven by instinct whether you want to believe it or not. Just think about what your first instinct would be if you came across a bear in the middle of the trail you were hiking. What would you do? How would you react? Would you fight the bear? Would you run from the bear? Or would you just play dead and wait for the bear to leave? I ask this because it determines how your amygdala is hard wired in your brain. For many vulnerable women, seeing a homeless man approaching them will trigger the flight or fight response. But for the left, if that man was black, you'd be the racist bigot guilty of "stereotyping" people in a way that is "morally and factually wrong."

I will help you understand at least my attitude which is not liberal or conservative but one that I think follows the constitution. The man did his time for the killings. Double Jeopardy is unconstitutional. So now Homan and other Trump officials vilify him because the the two deaths and push the whole illegal agenda. Yes, they can and should prosecute for illegal entry and other Federal crimes, but the parents and some in the Trump admin point to the deaths as the reason for renewed prosecution. The sentence for the deaths however is served. Don't blame me but that is typical of most criminal cases. Light sentences and easy parole. You want justice, please change that.

So to me it is not just about illegals but about highly variable sentencing and release. A ten year sentence in most states may equal 3-4 years in prison and parole. Hope this helps you understand how some feel about the justice system. Liberals may be just as guilty. Eomotions are powerful but cases and sentencing should be based on the crime at hand taking into account for previous criminal activity and sentencing guidelines if any. Most judges do this well though there is sometimes quite a bit of variance, even between judges.

8. U.S. Code 1326 specifies sentences depending on previous convictions. It is not double jeopardy, such laws have been on the books for a long time. For instance, in my progressive state they have a law (last time I checked) for no jail time until the sixth conviction for burglary. The sixth conviction sentence is not double jeopardy.

Yes, it is fine for heavier sentencing for prior offenses. However, if the officials are linking it to the deaths that is double jeopardy in spirit. That is exactly what happened to OJ. The courts failed once but given another chance they stuck it to him albeit on different charges. This is bait and switch in criminal prosecution and sentencing in some cases. Al Capone was similar.
"He was sentenced to 11 years behind bars and fined $50,000; it was the harshest sentence delivered for tax fraud up to that point." Harshest sentence ever because they failed on other charges so they stuck it to him.? I have no love lost for Simpson or Capone or even this illegal immigrant but I do not like politics to push for an outcome. The left did this with the cops who kneed George Floyd.

If you're so concerned about women being trafficked, feel free to chime in on the Andrew Tate thread from a couple months ago:

My answer to you is in Post #26.
I have been shown stereotypes are wrong enough times so as not to believe them.
I don't carry guns or live in fear.
Being a senior, I lead a prudent--but far from isolated--life. My adult children call me the busiest person they know.
