  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

First, A lot of things are unfair , this ain´t one of them.

Second, I could not give a squat what other countries think when they look at "us". In fact, 99% of countries out there couldn´t hold a candle to Canada.

Third ,according to the 2000 census, 85 % of Canadians are Caucasian. You do the math.

They say that we can't get quality people to run in politics because they don't want to put up with the stuff that comes with the job.

If the above turns out to be false or overblown we may have problems simply appointing people.

They'd probably track down that I post here and find my most ill-conceived posts and print them in every newspaper. The CBC would then turn them into a dramatic radio play about the haunted and shallow life of a loser.

We used to walk away awards for best contry to live in, country with the highest quality of life, etc etc -- now we're consistently ranked somewhere between 4th or 6th or so.

Clearly, there are literally hundreds of conutries in other parts of the world that simply aren't in the same ball park, but as far as developed conutries go we seem to excel at mediocrity.
