Well, I'm getting one of the wishes I had when I was little....Ok, the question is, if you had to spend a year in a country that is not your own, which country would it be? Also, if you want, include why.
I would probably choose Israel. Why: I am fascinated by biblical history and there are places all through out Israel that are of historical significance. I would also really enjoy learning the language and the culture and to find out what Israelis live with each day.
No I am not confused, sounds exactly like what we have here except in a state or two. The main thing that I was wondering about though was if you were going to refer to England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales with one word, other than the UK or Britain, what word would you use? Like we call the 50 states "states" or individually we call them "state."Quote from Lead 'I do have a serious question though. The UK and Britain are interchangeable terms. So, the UK includes England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales right? If so, do these places have a special name? In the US we have “states,” in Canada they have “provinces,” do ya'll have something like that in the UK? Also, how do you refer to commonwealth members like Canada and Australia? Just "the Commonwealth?" Finally, what does Austrailia call their states/provinces? I sure hope these aren't stupid questions.'
The UK is made up of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, each of these are made up of Countys which in turn are made up of towns and Cities. London is capital city of England in and is in various Counties. I live in the City of Sheffield which in the North East of England and the County of South Yorkshire. Each town and City has different areas, and post codes (zip codes) Are you confused yet? Hope i answered you questions Lead!
No they are just referred to as the UK or seperately. No I am not confused, sounds exactly like what we have here except in a state or two. Where does it say we are forbidden to go to the Holy Land?Do you it's fair that we are fobidden to go to the Holy land?
Just because it's my DREAM so i'm asking? with pain and huge sadness
One of the Pastors from our church went there with his wife this summer.Good question!
I recently read a book called "The Forgotten Children", which is about the children in Northern Uganda who are suffering under the LRA's terrorization. It touched my heart and made me feel for the children and I've been praying for them (I'm going somewhere with this, I promise).
I would want to spend a year in Northern Uganda helping the children who are being tormented by the LRA. Help them get away from the LRA and help them to cope with their situation and to become healthy again.
Wow, that's really awesome! Were they able to help some of the children? One of the Pastors from our church went there with his wife this summer.
