If humanity had some few months left...

(Inspired by http://german.imdb.com/title/tt0219224/ - I hope the link will work for everyone, somehow it seems suspect... if it doesn't work, look up the movie "On the beach" on www.imdb.com - specifically the 2000 version that I recently caught on German TV)

So... regardless of what you (don't) believe... let's imagine for a while.

Let's imagine that some terminal disaster has struck, you're among the few humans who are still alive, and you know - not suspect, you know! - that in some few months at best you will also be dead. And all of humanity with you. The complete extinction of the human race.

What would you do with the little bit of time left?

I do not ask for any religious point of view. I know some of you will say "Well, earthly life doesn't matter compared to eternal life in (insert name of your faith's paradise here)". Let's imagine for a while that you're sure no such life-after-death exists.

Would you say "Well, if we're all gonna die, it doesn't matter what I do, whom I may hurt, I may as well have a good time"? Would you say "I don't care whether this is The End, I feel compelled to (whatever) no matter whether anyone will criticize or chastise me for it!"? Something else entirely?

Let us assume that the means of a quick painless death are provided by whomever... let's say by the government.

(This is in fact what most deeply shook me about the mentioned movie... the sight of long queues of desperate people in front of governmental cyanide distribution centers...)
