if you make things, what do you enjoy creating the most?

I'm very artsy-craftsy! I've done everything from needlecrafts (cross-stitch, needlepoint, knitting) to rock-painting (flowers, Christian symbols) to basket weaving with pine needles (S. Carolina pine needles are 12+ inches long and make great baskets)

But by far, i am most proud of the new skill i have been learning: wheel thrown pottery. There's probably pictures in my blog if one was so inclined to take a peek. i totally enjoy centering a lump of clay on the wheel and pulling it up into something with smooth lines and form. It is the most relaxing and engaging thing i've ever done with myself. I've just finished an 8 week summer course and will start a fall semester on sept 10 (can you tell i'm counting the days?)

What is your favorite color?

i don't really have a favorite color. i have a weird sense about colors -- they 'feel' like different things to me. Like blues and greens are calm and purposeful and reds and purples are powerful.

i look best in teal (or so my Real Estate partner tells me) but i find i wear mostly black! Actually most agents do-- if you ever go to a realtor convention, it's a veritible sea of black suits and power red shirts.

my home is done in natural colors-- decorated with wood, basketry, pottery. Various hues of brown and mocha, butterscotch and sand.

What is YOUR favorite color? I want to guess purple?

whats your favorite pets name?

Well, i have FIVE pets - one cat and four dogs. Now before you think i am overwhelmed by animals... the combined weight of these pets is only 30 lbs! (Maltese dogs weigh an average of 5-6 lbs) God has blessed me to raise these cute little pure white lion-dogs!

It's tough to say one has a 'favorite' pet, but Rylie, the male Maltese-- and the first one i came to know-- is my favorite. He's the alpha dog of the bunch and i do my best to make sure he feels like a very special pooch. He is always by my side. Even right now as i type this, he is sitting at my feet. Should i get up to take a shower, when i come out of the shower room, he will be laying down by the door. He sits on the bed while i do my makeup and he will crawl up on my legs when i do basketry. Rylie is 5.

Right now we have 2 puppies in the house, Daisy & Maisy, the male Rylie and the rescue dog, Ming. We are not even sure how old Ming is-- we think about 8. Ming is the only dog that doesn't sleep on the bed with me and the only dog i haven't personally raised. She is afraid to be on the bed and will pee uncontrollably when afraid... hence... she's not on the bed.

Then there is Keeko the cat. He's an outdoor cat and occassionally will bless us with his presence. Mostly he feels it's his duty to keep up safe from small rodents. He often leaves me moles, mice, rats, once -- an oppposum, chipmunks, birds, etc.

(By 'Us', in case anyone is wondering, my family consists of me and my two children, who i found refer to as Tadpole and Princess, on the internet.) So with all of 'Us' ... we have 8 heartbeats in our house! Whew!

Well, Arcon, you asked a simple question, and as usual, i got wordy. i love to talk about my pets though, and hopefully you were not sorry you asked!

My favorite color is green. Are you surprised?

No not surprised. My mother's favorite color is green and that makes me smile to think about it.

Green is a grand color.

When i mix glazes to put on my pottery, my favorite is something called Dragon Green.

I think about colors in 2 ways-- one the mere notion that color is merely a reflection of light truly boggles my mind. The science behind things is very fascinating.

And 2nd, that God is so wonderful that He gave us this world of beauty and amazing colors. i marvel at autumn colors.

Can you see autumn colors where you are (in the autumn of course!!) ?
