155 Salvation is far from the wicked,
For they do not seek Your statutes.
160 The sum of Your word is truth,
And every one of Your righteous ordinances is everlasting.
161 Princes persecute me without cause,
But my heart stands in awe of Your words.
162 I rejoice at Your word,
As one who finds great spoil.
163 I hate and despise falsehood,
But I love Your law. (Psalm 119:155,160-163 NASB1995)

When we are born into this world, we are born with sin natures, in the image of Adam, the first man God created, and the first man to sin against God. In our flesh we can do nothing to meet with God’s divine approval. So God the Father sent his Only Begotten Son Jesus Christ to the earth to be born as a baby to a human (virgin) mother, conceived of the Holy Spirit, and not of man. So Jesus was not born with a sin nature as we are, and he never sinned. So he was our perfect “lamb” sacrifice for the sins of the world when his enemies hung him on that cross to die. But he arose from the dead!

Now when Jesus lived on the earth he was fully God and fully human (God incarnate), but without sin. And he gave his life up for us on that cross so that when he died, our sins died with him, so that by God-persuaded faith in him we will now die with him to sin and live to him and to his righteousness in walks of obedience to his commands, in surrender of our lives to his will. For this is the will of God, and this is the message of the gospel, that faith in Christ, which is of God, will result in us forsaking our sinful lifestyles to now follow our Lord in obedience to his commands in holy living, by his grace.

And now we should no longer live like we did before we believed in Jesus. Now all that is of the flesh, that which is morally unclean, which is sinful, dishonest, wicked, untrustworthy, hypocritical, prideful and contrary to God’s will and purpose for our lives should no longer be what we practice. All that we used to long for and desire in our sinful flesh should now be put away from our lives, and our longing and desires should now be for the Lord, to follow him in his ways, and in his truth, and to please him with our lives. Daily we should be putting sin to death and walking in fellowship with God.

Nonetheless, that is not the gospel message which is being so popularized in our culture today, well at least in the USA, where I live. There are many false teachers and preachers and evangelists among us who are spreading an altered and diluted “gospel” created in the minds of human flesh with the purpose to appease human flesh and to coddle those who profess the name of Jesus, in their sins. They are teaching that a mere profession of faith in Jesus Christ will guarantee us forgiveness of all sins and heaven as our eternal resting place, but regardless of how we live, absent of repentance.

But they are the morally unclean, liars, manipulators, and deceivers who fake their Christianity in order to deceive people and to lead them to follow the lies which will land them in hell, rather than to teach them the truth of the gospel which, if we follow by faith, will result in salvation from sin and eternal life with God. They have taken the Light of the gospel and they have altered it and twisted it to their advantage so that they can continue living in sin while promising themselves eternal life with God. And they are attacking the truth of the gospel, and those who teach it, so as to deceive the masses.

So, as those who follow Jesus Christ with our lives, who have died with Christ to sin, who have been reborn of the Spirit of God to walk in newness of life in Him, and who are now living to please our Lord in walks of obedience to his commands, we should also be those who are spreading the truth of the gospel of Christ to the people of the world, and who are refuting the lies of the enemy which are leading so many people to believe that how they live will have no impact at all on where they spend eternity. We should teach death to sin and obedience to God as faith in Christ which saves.

For Jesus Christ taught that to come to him we must deny self, take up our cross daily (die daily to sin), and follow (obey) him. For if we hold on to living in sin and for self, we will lose our lives for eternity. But if we deny self, die daily to sin, by the Spirit, and we walk in obedience to our Lord and to his commands, in his power, then we have eternal life with God. For not everyone who calls him “Lord” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one DOING (obeying) the will of God (see Luke 9:23-26; Matthew 7:21-23).

[Matthew 7:13-14,21-23; Luke 9:23-26; John 10:27-30; Acts 26:18; Romans 2:5-10; Romans 6:1-23; Romans 8:1-14; 1 Corinthians 10:1-22; Galatians 5:16-24; Ephesians 4:17-32; Ephesians 5:3-6; Titus 2:11-14; Hebrews 12:1-2; 1 Peter 2:24; 1 John 1:1-10; 1 John 2:3-6; 1 John 3:4-10]

Your Servant Witness

Christ’s Free Servant, Sue J Love

Humbly I bow, Lord, before You,
Bringing my requests to You.
May I listen; hear You speaking.
May I follow You in truth.
Gently lead me in Your service.
Guide my steps and strengthen me.
Fill me with Your love and mercy.
May I live for Thee!

Let me be Your servant witness,
Telling others of Your grace.
May I always share the gospel
With those I meet face to face.
May I show the love of Jesus,
Caring for the needs of men;
Be Your servant witness always
For my Lord, Amen!

My desire to be like Jesus,
Living for Him ev’ry day.
May I obey all His teachings
Given me, so I’ll not stray.
Love You, Jesus, Lord, my master.
You are the King of my heart;
Follow You where’er You lead me;
Not from You depart!

Yes, that is right. He is making us holy by making us separate. Some call it sanctification. Sadly many Christians don't want sanctifcation, they only want salvation & freedom. I fear Christians being coddled & taught mere profession are in serious danger. The Bible teaches sanctification & salvation go together, to the extent if you're not being sanctified, you should question if you're really saved. This isn't an attack on grace, instead it says it would be impossible if it wasn't for grace.

Even tho we are in Christ, we must continue to fight sin. It is a daily struggle. It is easy to not see the goodness in his way. We are tempted to want our way & come up w/ excuses. We will always lose doing it our way. So we must go to him for his grace.

Thank you for sharing. It helps to biblically understand words such as the gospel, grace, faith, and salvation. For grace is what sent Jesus to the cross to put our sins to death with him so that, by faith in him, we will die to sin and walk in obedience to his commands. For his grace, which is bringing us salvation, is training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives till our Lord returns (see Tiitus 2:11-14; Romans 6:1-23; Luke 9:23-26; Matthew 7:21-23; Galatians 5:16-21 and so on). And faith in Jesus comes from God and is persuaded of God as to his righteousness and holiness and of our need to die to sin and to walk in obedience to our Lord's commands. Yes, salvation and sanctification go together because salvation is the process of sanctification in our lives, and it will not be complete until Jesus returns and he takes his bride to be with him for eternity (see Romans 6:1-23 and others).

No it's God who promises that. The Bible says that God cannot lie. There's even a hymn called "Standing on the promises of God." His promise of salvation is what we're standing on.

The promise of salvation from sin and of eternal life with God is a conditional promise, as are all of God's promises, and the conditions for us to receive what is promised is that we must believe in Jesus with God-persuaded and God-gifted faith in the Lord, which is not of human flesh, and we must die with Christ to sin, not just once but daily, for sin must no longer be what we practice, and we must walk (in conduct, in practice) in obedience to our Lord and to his commands. This is not to say that we will never sin again (1 John 2:1-2) but that if sin is still what we practice, and not righteousness, and not obedience to God, that we will not inherit eternal life with God (see all the scripture references I supplied in the OP). So, the point in what I was saying is that there are people who have taken the message of the gospel, and they have altered it and twisted it to their own advantage so that they can continue living in sin. Thus, they have promised themselves eternal life with God based on a lie and not on the truth of the gospel, for God does not promise eternal life to those who will not obey him (Matthew 7:21-23).

The reason why we know we are going to heaven is because we are standing on the promises of God. God says you are going to heaven in the Bible, that means that you will go to heaven for sure. This is what we are standing on and this is why we sing the hymn. We are not standing on our own lifestyle to be good enough.

The Scriptures do not teach that you are going to heaven just because you believe you are. They teach we must die to sin and obey God, in practice, or we will not have eternal life with God. Read the noted Scriptures and see what they teach. Read Luke 9:23-26 and Matthew 7:21-23. These are Jesus's words.

Even the most famous Bible verse teaches that it's whosoever believeth. It's just faith alone. That is why your verse says that not everyone who calls Jesus Lord will be saved. You cannot be saved by working your way to heaven no matter how much you called Jesus the Lord. You must be saved with the easy way or not at all.
