  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

3r[sup]2[/sup]y - 3yr[sup]2[/sup] + y[sup]3[/sup] = (3960[sup]3[/sup] – 3955[sup]3[/sup])miles[sup]3[/sup]
The second term should be 3y[sup]2[/sup]r.

Otherwise ... good point.

3y[sup]2[/sup]r is likely to be too small to be significant given that y[sup]2[/sup] is 10[sup]-10[/sup].

Hence, Chalnoth's approximation is probably good ... and, of course, comparing to the above answers ... it is good.

I got the same as Plindboe and Chalnoth

distance from earth is 5,701,973 km, which is around 3,542,864 miles.

Water volume was 4085638331 km[sup]2[/sup] I then multiplied with 100000 to get the area of the 1 cm thick layer of water. This was then used in the sphere surface area calculation giving r[sup]2[/sup], the root of this gave the distance from earth.

Keep in mind, no water sphere would exist there. The low temp and pressure would simply evaporate the water into a cloud of tiny ice crystals that would then drift off as gravity dictated.
Well, technically, if it wasn't affected by any outside force, it would collapse under its own gravity.

There would also be a fair amount of photodissociation taking place due to solar radiation.

And allegedly hit the moon very hard on all sides as He moved the water away, leaving great big holes that look just like impact craters.

You got a problem with that??

I wonder how the Voyager probes (among others) managed to fly through that layer at 40.000 miles per hour without harm.

Let me get this straight - some super-intelligent being created the universe from nothing, made humans from dust and couldn't avoid the moon when removing a shed load of water from the earth?

Can he not drive?

Of course all of the other solid planets or moons also have lots of impact craters.
Meteors hit the earth every day. That comet hit jupiter, for everyone to see.

Why is there a need for some weird concoction of a story about meteor craters when they are still being made the same way as always.

r[sup]2[/sup] = 396 x 10[sup]3[/sup] + y[sup]3[/sup] = 3955 x 10[sup]3[/sup] = 3.84171392 x 10[sup]21[/sup]

y[sup]3[/sup] = 3955 x 10[sup]3[/sup] + r[sup]2[/sup] = 396 x 10[sup]3[/sup] = 3.84171392 x 10[sup]21[/sup]

r[sup]2[/sup] + y[sup]3[/sup] = 3.84171392 x 10[sup]21[/sup]

The correct answer = (3 ÷ 1 =) 3 miles.

Relative to the information above, your "Google calculator" (result) answer is 100% incorrect.
