Historical Reports
I also saw a show recently about the Sumerians, with their own Noah story. I wonder if it's just their geographic proximity that gave them a word-of-mouth account of stories from nearby lands.
There was also a show on Ramses, whom they believe to be the Pharoah of Moses' time. A large statue was erected of his first-born son, who appeared to have died suddenly and regretfully...confirming the story of Moses' plagues.
If God is God, then he was probably making himself known to the Sumerians. All history research will lead back to the truth. Eventually.
Historians write down experiences of people groups. Sometimes bragging, competition, and denial show up. We need these accounts to shed light on other discoveries, but we're never really certain that human error and selfish ambition are not mixed in our stories.
Who discovered America? Vikings, or Asians who travelled eastward, or Columbus...? Those who have studied Columbus' diaries read of his devout faith, along with corruption and selfish greed. We canned this one event and made a skip-school holiday out of it.
Personal Conflicts
The accuser wants to discredit God. But then, you may wonder, how do you even know there's an accuser?
Do you remember times when something unseen has attacked your mind, trying to dissuade you from God? Do you also remember times that God has rescued you, answered your prayers, worked in uncanny ways to improve your life? Write some of these down.
If these helps were not from your God, where did they come from?
Lord, make yourself known in power. We cannot conjure up what we want You to be, but rest in the fact that You are God, and You are mighty to save. You know that we don't want to be on the wrong track concerning what we believe...we just want truth and reality, along with Your love. Please confirm Your existence to Cisco, and bring him assurance of Your truth.
