PeterTheRock was booted from the monostary after a week or so, IIRC.

Now he's one of those who claim that Pope John Paul II wasn't a real Pope and that Masses not in latin aren't licit and that Vatican II was a sham, etc, IIRC.

This is more common than not.

Those who's ego identity is link to their religion,(in this case Catholicism) will fail when they are asked to detach themselves and be open to the will of God.

The Roman Catholic Church of Latvia is part of the worldwide Roman Catholic Church, under the spiritual leadership of the Pope and curia in Rome.

There are around 430,235 Catholics — around 17% of the total population.

The Roman Catholic Church has been present in the area that now constitutes the Republic of Latvia since Saint Canute IV in the mid-11th century brought Christianity to Courland and Livonia, and the first Christian church was built 1048 in Courland. Bishop Albert of Riga and the Livonian Brothers of the Sword were the first to initiate organized Christianization of all the indigenous people in the early 13th century - at the time tribal cultures like the Curonians, the Latgallians, the Livs, the Selonians and the Semigallians.

The highest office in the Roman Catholic Church of Latvia has since 1991 been held by cardinal Jānis Pujāts.

The Roman Catholic Church of Latvia is divided into one archdiocese and three dioceses:

* Archdiocese of Rīga

o Diocese of Jelgava

o Diocese of Liepāja

o Diocese of Rēzekne-Aglona

God bless and good luck on your journey. There might be a time when you question if this is what you really want to do but God will let you know. If you do decide to become a monk you will gain an experience with God that very few people will ever know.

1. How does the acceptance in a monk order happen?
You simply go to a monastery and never leave.

2. Are there any requirements to become a monk?
Catholic who is free of great debt or parental responsibilities and in good health though that isn't always a requirement.

3. Is there a chance that I will not be accepted if I don't know their language? I can speak freely in english...
Doubtful.

4. What would you suggest me to do first?
Contact your priest and ask him to enter spiritual direction or help you find one if he can't do it and tell him about your hopes for discernment and if he thinks you may be ready to speak with your diocesan vocations director and or more simply just go visit a monastery open for retreats and tell a monk you want to join.

If you were in the US I could give you a link to a vocations placement service and various monasteries but I see your abroad so that wouldn't help much.

Sorry if these are repeat answers. Haven't read the thread.

Peace and may God direct your paths.
