• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

My new group is a huge dud. Totally not there participation wise. The therapist is nice, and I could work with her one on one, if need be, but the group session was a huge waste for me. I could just cry.

In the meantime, I got a disciplinary warning letter at work for my absences, which are all legitimate, but excessive. My new therapist at group offered to see if I could go out for the rest of the year on short term disability. I am considering it. I would have to take care of a few things first at work, but may just do just that.

I wish I never relapsed two years ago. This has been the most H***ish nightmare trying to get sober again.

It is very hard to handle so much around you and try to focus on your sobriety. Perhaps that is a good idea to take a leave and focus 100% on recovery.
I have a friend who is a doctor, he took something like 30 vicoden a day. He went into treatment and cut his practice down, and took it slow for the first year.
He is doing awesome now 15 years later, and he was actually the one who helped me into recovery.

Knowing just how hard it is to get back on track is a good thing, and hopefully it will sink into your subconscious when the desire to relapse comes on strong.

You probably have already heard this but this has helped me...When the desire to relapse comes on.. play the tape in your mind of where you are now, skip the middle and play in your mind your last drunk and how bad it was.

I truly feel you are getting it Trish, I really do and you will get through all of this..

I am praying for you.

Be careful. Sometimes that "hatred" comes from sheer resistance: we don't like to be hit where we live.

Hang on, kid!

I wish I had been hit where I live. Ihave been confronted in group, especially by the previous group, and appreciated it, because it made me look at myself. This group is totally not there. It may get there, but it's not there now. Also, they do not require attendance at 12 step meetings, which was a requirement at my previous group. One day at a time.
