• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I had thoughts about worshipping the beast

I didn't finish the thought, I realized mid-thought it was a bad thought and stopped thinking it. Worshipping the beast is an unforgivable sin. I know the beast doesn't even exist yet but still I think it's bad to think those kind of thoughts. Now I can't get any sleep and feel more numb than before. What can I do? I already repented but still feel like this.

Might be a good thing. You have had this thought and the thought has repulsed you. Now when the beast worship arrives you will automatically be repulsed by it all. Kind Regards

you need to learn to recognise intrusive thoughts and how to deal with them.
25 tips for successfuly treating your OCD, point number 4. Just agree with intrusive thoughts and move on.

Jesus knows you far better than you know yourself, he saved you, he sustains you, he keeps you save in the faith.
None of your faith is by your doing. It is ALL of Jesus.

When thoughts like this occur, say yes that is right, move on and praise Jesus for his sacrifice, for his free gift to you of salvation.
Think about all the good things and pay no attention to the bad things( other than acknowledging them )

If someone tells me I can have any flavor of ice cream but one, guess which one I find myself wanting? We're human and have rebellious natures. Paul struggled with it too, but I love his conclusion:

For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.

If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.

Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.

For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.

For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.

Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.

I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.

For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:

But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.

O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

(Romans 7:14-25)

It was not an intrusive thought, but instead more of a compulsive thought. I have got probably dozens if not hundreds of intrusive thoughts that were the same type and they don't scare me that much, but this one I thought myself, albeit not agreeing with it at all, in what was probably a compulsive manner (I don't remember the exact circumstance anymore).

If you try not to think about something, odds are you will think about it. I suspect this is true with feelings as well. If you consciously attempt not to feel something, like anxiety, you'll keep feeling it, especially with OCD.

I heard someone say to sit with the discomfort until it passes without playing into the OCD. Another way of saying this might be, to let yourself be okay with not feeling okay. Eventually the feeling of not being okay will subside.

You belong to to Jesus, his spirit lives in you and he will never tell you to do anything that will harm you, those you love or your relationship with Jesus.

So it follows any thought that harms you, your loved ones or your relationship with Jesus is a product of your illness.
I can only suggest you treat such thoughts as intrusive.
You will have to get better councelling from proffessionals if doing this does not work.

Hi buddy!,

listen, don’t stress.I’ve had those thoughts too. They are only intrusive thoughts, plus if you worry about worshiping the beast, that shows you truly wouldn’t.You are sided with Jesus, people who will worship the beast don’t even know who he is and how dangerous he is.Everyone who doesn’t know or love Jesus will fall under the evil of the beast.

I know that you’re scared that “what if it’s from my heart or masks my true soul?!”.
My brother,please don’t fret,only pray

Could this just be OCD's sneaky way of trying to make you feel like you actually meant the thought?
