First of all, it says 2008 and it isn't 2008 yet. The title implies that these are the best songs of 2008 but it isn't 2008 yet. Of course, they probably mean the best as of the beginning of 2008... Even then, a lot of the songs are old...

Only 8 out of 33 songs are new! 25%!!!! What the heck! Also, there are 17 songs from albums that appeared on last years WOW!!!

I almost bought this at the store but then I looked at who was on it and I said to myself, “I’ve been listening to these songs since before I went to Oregon!” I went to Oregon in August 2006! These songs are tired already!

And then there’s X 2008

First of all, only 9 out of these 17 songs are old. Only a little bit better percentage wise on new music than WOW.

Seconldy, isn’t this album supposed to feature harder rock that what is found on the WOW discs? Well, then how come it shares 5 artists, some with the same song?* What is Relient K and Barlowgirl doing on this album?! I want to hear Demon Hunter, Project 86, etc (that is, of course, if they have any recent offerings)

*I didn’t count Red because it actually belongs on the X album. However, “Already Over” is from the same album as “Breathe Into Me” was on last year’s X album!

Seriously, we can’t find at least 15 songs from the past year that are any good so we have to dig through history? I don’t understand.

I learned a long time ago, that they didn't get the name "WOW" from being good [it's not a good 'wow']. I am surprised by their band selection too. I think they pick by how many cds any given band sells, and how strongly that band believes in the laws of CCM.

Just because there's a year tacked onto the name of the compilation, doesn't really mean anything. For instance, Ultimate New Wave Party 1998, despite having the year 1998 in the title, contains nothing from the 90s at all (this is partly due to the fact New Wave died out in the mid 80s; interestingly enough, some of the entries on that CD are even from the late 80s) - record companies just got into the habit of having a flagship compilation that they release each year, and it doesn't matter when the songs were actually recorded or released.
