I was thinking about this same thing the other day. The women in my family have almost always been the higher wage earners, none of the men seem to mind. Dh and I have mostly made about the same, but there have been times that I have made slightly more than him due to raises and promotions and stuff. Dh always jokes about it that his wife makes more than him. I was actually shocked when almost all of his coworkers said they wouldnt like it at all if their wives made more than them.
Dh's attitude about it is that if it helps the family, who cares who makes the money?
DH basically said the same thing He said "More money = more video games" haha That's a "no" on the emasculated front. I can't see it ever coming to pass though, I'll never make more doing office work than he does as a repair tech.
My wife earn's more some weeks than I do atm. It doesn't bother me, Her future career will see her earn twice as much as me, doesn't bother me too much. She'll give me an allowance I hope
My wife makes more than me, and like she said, with our career choices, there's a chance she'll make more than me in the future, too. I don't see an issue at all - we run a communist household where we contribute according to our abilities and take according to our needs, and all major financial decisions are made by both of us. It would be the same way whether she made 3,000 more than I did per year, or 60,000 more than I did.
