• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I cant tell you how because I dont know.. All I do know is that I dont think about it 24/7 and I useally dont have flash backs as often as I used to.. When it does come up I try and keep myself busy in doing things to take my mind and emotions off of the past.. Even though it likes to keep me reminded I know soon or later I'll have that victory in the Lord to keep the old memories to surface as much if at all.. Also know no matter what its not our fault.. Its the person's fault for knowing better and still choose to do what they did..

It usually involves talking and praying with an experienced abuse counsellor over a period of time. Abuse has many effects, and it takes time and understanding to unravel them. Wish I had an instant cure but sadly I haven't found one yet.

Bless you

I am dealing with it by seeking to understand what happened in the past and how I have been affected by it. How it has shaped my person and damaged who I am supposed to be.
For me, the abuse warped the way I understand God, see people, trust others and treat myself. But with the help of Christian friends and counselors I am beginning to see that I don't have to remain in the past, I don't have to stay that way.
I may be wounded but God is healing and restoring and building in me greater character and strength than I knew I had.
