How many years til the end?

Although Jesus said that no one knows the date and the hour, and that we shouldn't speculate upon same, He did give us signs to look for. Even though we won't know the exact hour or day, we will know when the time is approaching. We have many abilities today that no other generation, since the dawn of creation, has had. One of the obvious is the ability of people to "move to and fro". There are many ordinarly, every-day people who constantly travel, mostly for business purposes. But there are also those who are retired and spend their retirement travelling. How many of us travel across the country each holiday to visit family and friends... When we consider our nuclear weapons, telecommunications, and satellites...all of these capabilities that we now possess, and that are being expanded upon due to further technological advances, is enough to make our heads spin.

We live in a very fast-paced society. I believe that either the end is near - or something's going to happen to slow us down. Either way, I'm sure we're in for some perilous times ahead of us.

I'm interested in finding out about the Maitreya. I went to the site that you linked but didn't find out anything as to who he is, where he's from, etc. I have seen links and posts referring to him but have never heard of him before. I did a search and came up with this and more like it but it seems to be real ambiguious with no details about the person on that web site that you posted. The article said:

He has been expected for generations by all of the major religions. Christians know him as the Christ, and expect his imminent return. Jews await him as the Messiah; Hindus look for the coming of Krishna; Buddhists expect him as Maitreya Buddha; and Muslims anticipate the Imam Mahdi or Messiah

it also goes on to say:

Preferring to be known simply as the Teacher, Maitreya has not come as a religious leader, or to found a new religion, but as a teacher and guide for people of every religion and those of no religion. At this time of great political, economic and social crisis Maitreya will inspire humanity to see itself as one family, and create a civilization based on sharing, economic and social justice, and global cooperation. Another article I read goes on about how he won't be around for another so many thousands of years from now, that he has not been "reborn" yet. I guess that means reincarnated.
From what I can gather from this information, he sure sounds like the anti-Christ to me. I especially find issue with comparing him to Christ and the Messiah. Anyway, I guess I just want to know if this Maitreya is around today, if the pictures on that site are of a real person. Sorry this is such a long post, just trying to figure out what all the talk about this person is about.

I have to admit, it frightens me a little talking about this. I'm no Biblical scholar, but my heart tells me that the time is very close. It's just a feeling I have. The way the world is going, all things point to the Lord returning soon. Amen.

I'm with you, Grace, it is scary. While it would be glorious to think I could soon be with the Lord it scares to me to think I might know non Christians who would be here when He comes again. It's somewhat easier to think their physical bodies will already be dust at that point.

Share International would seem to be Maitreya's Website. This is one of my favorite quotes from that website :

AH HA! Just when u thunk u had us figured out...BAM!
This subject is something that brings much debate amongst Catholics(and Protestants). I believe in The Book Of Rev as prophecy for the endtimes(not about Nero & past empires etc)Anyone who studies this book(along w/Daniel & Isaiah)should see tht all the prophecies foretold havent come to pass yet(and the majority couldnt until ISRAEL had become a nation again w/all the Tribes returning home). Not to mention the rebirth of The Roman Empire etc. I dont know why some experts overlook these items,perhaps our man WOLS could help from the RCC standpoint?

Yup, gotta add my voice to Carma's. Rev. Moon is a false prophet and a type of antichrist. Those who follow him are following after greivous error. Only Jesus is the Christ as completly revealed in the Bible. If you are holding to any other gospel than the one that Paul, Silas and Timothy preached in the first century, you are following a false Gospel. This holds for every one of us.

Carma and mikitta, you are absolutely correct. There is one Messiah, there is one Christ. He came and never left, He is still with us. He will be with us for eternity. Any other teaching is a false gospel and not of God.

There is only one Messiah/Savior of mankind. He is CLEARLY revealed in OT and NT. Jesus is the one and only. He is the one who drank the wine at the last supper. He drank the wine and gave a speech almost identical to what a Jewish bridegroom would have given to his beloved. We are betrothed, the bride of CHRIST. And, he is coming back for His bride. Do I hear an Amen out there!

Good morning,

I don't think I can really say how many years with any degree of certainty until two things occur: the falling away and the Abomination of Desolation. Then we can say with much certainty, and even count the days.

When we see Jerusalem surrounded by armies; when we see a man sit in the Holy Place of the yet to be built Temple in Jerusalen, and proclaim himself as god; then we can start a countdown.

2Th 2:2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

2Th 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for [that day shall not come], except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

2Th 2:4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

Till then, the best I can say is: we are nearing the season.
