  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

hell can mean several things in the Bible...
as three greek words are translated into the english as hell.

most time it means the common grave...an analogy for death...
it can mean the holding place for the fallen angels....
it can mean the garbage pit outside of Jeruslaem, a disgusting place...UNWANTED ROTTING GARBAGE, FULL OF MAGGOTS ETC...
used symbolically.

hell can be a condition instead of a place, as it was with Lazarus and the rich man...

so, no one is being tortured right now...God is not a masicist

no one will be tortured....

God is going to destroy the very essence of all those who do not overcome...

not torture them forever....

destroy them forever....but not until judgment.

Gary51, what do you think the Book of Life is exactly?
The book of life is where the names of those that recieve eternal life are recorded.

Does Scripture say people will be judged by the Bible?
Yes. The books that are opened are scripture. The dead will be judge by the things that are in scripture. Just in case you haven't noticed. Nowhere in the bible does it mention the word bible. Now, just in case you can't accept that the books are scripture. What do you think the books are?

I thought, perhaps I'm mistaken, that people would be judged by the Ten Commandments, God's Moral Law, which is written on our hearts. What is your understanding of Romans 2:12-16?
Are those things you've just mentioned in scripture? I think that as you have read them from scripture they are!

Again, is all that in scripture?

That is what I thought, but I was asking for confirmation.

Yes, I know that the word Bible isn't in the Bible. And yes, I firmly believe that the Bible is the final and sole authority for matters of Christian faith, doctrine and practice.

Are those things you've just mentioned in scripture? I think that as you have read them from scripture they are! Again, is all that in scripture?

Yes, they are mentioned in Scripture. I was asking for your understanding of that scriptural passage though.

You didn't answer my question. What do you think the books are by which the dead are judged?

PS. My rhetorical questions are my answers!

I don't understand your question. Are you asking which books of the Bible the dead will be judged by or what? If that is the question, then I have no idea. Otherwise, I believe the dead will be judged by Scripture, perhaps even God's Moral Law. To be honest, I don't know how the dead will be judged. That is why I asked my questions.
