You can read 1 Corinthians 11 about what was unworthy. Ones were eating and drinking, right next to ones who had "nothing". How we are relating with one another is very important to Jesus. What do you do physically, mentally and spiritually to be worthy of partaking in it?
agreeEastern Orthodox normally have regular confession, and might attend a Saturday evening service if offered in their area. The most regular part is to fast from the night before taking communion, thereby breaking the fast with the Eucharist. If a parishioner needs to eat with medication, that is normally permitted by speaking with the priest.
