I'm directing this towards those in youth programs. I am a teen myself, and I have asked this question around other youth ministries. Here's the problem: as teens, we are taught to live under a Christian label. (Actually, labels are our lives, whether we like it or not! Thank media for that.) Naturally, almost everyone you know in a youth group professes to be Christian, but asking around I found that most don't know why they're saved. They don't know when they were converted, if they've ever experienced the Holy Spirit, or anything like that. They just call themselves Christians because they read the bible and go to church. But isn't there more to it? Is that going through the motions and missing the point?
A lot of this I personally blame on the church trying so hard to fit into modern teen culture. It takes a lot of the focus off of Christ and onto being hip and trendy. And now we are all confused and misdirected. Or are we all?
I'm referring to you. If you're a teen, how do you know you are saved? Do you know for sure? Like (gruesome moment here) if you died, if that's possible because teenagers are invincible, where would you go?
