How do you heal from a broken heart?

Hi Peacechild4,
I am brand new to this forum and saw this post. I was so thankful to see your question because I feel the same way. I am praying for you tonight. I do know the word says He comes to heal the broken hearted...yet I can relate to your pain. I so love my husband yet we are getting divorced. He knows the Bible, yet he has been verballly and emotionally abusive. I just wanted to get counseling, but he says he doesn't need it. I need the Lord to heal my broken heart. I am praying for you right now...that He will heal your broken heart. Father, I thank you for my sister and I ask that You heal her broken heart and set her free from the pain she has gone through. I cancel the pain in the memories in the name of Jesus. You said You will keep us in perfect peace if our mind is stayed on You. So we fix our minds on You Lord. And we thank you for Your Peace that passes all understanding to guard our hearts and our minds. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

You will never be over him. It wont ever happen. There is something deep in marriage and Sex and it it is lasting and binding, that is why i think God says to wait till your married. He wanted to spare us the heart ache of things like this.

I am a virgin and I still have a hard time with the fact that I had a nasty break a while ago and now I am dating another and it is working. It could even go to marriage.

Love is a funny thing. It is deep. It is brutal. It is fierce. It is unforgiving. It is lasting.

And at the same time, It can be shallow and transparent, it can weak and helpless. It can merciful and brief.

It is a liquid and a solid at the same time while keeping the qualities of a gas...

You are a woman that has experience the life giving aspects of marriage and you were bound to man and now he is gone. It aint gonna go away in 8 months. As I said it wont ever go away.

Here is what I say...

Now that he is gone, Pour all that extra engery, into your kids. Give them everything else.

And when you lay in bed and miss the warmth of the man next to you, Remember, it is not forever. Jesus is coming back to get us. There will be a day when you go to bed in New Jerusalem. There will be a day when it wont matter. That day is coming, God does not lie. He is coming.

And lastly when everything seems like it is going down the crapper and it is all horrid, Turns out God is a genius and he does know what he is doing. That should be the ultimate comfort besides salvation. There is a being out there that does know what he is doing and you are on his side. That means you win.

If that egg sucking gutter trash does come back. Forgive move forward, Because that is what Christ did, he forgave and moved Forward.

No I rarely if ever dream of my husband.. in fact I am quite surprised I am not thinking about him as much anymore now.. GOD is really healing my heart since the OP..

Many years ago when things were hard I asked GOD for love for this man.. GOD gave it to me.. it was so strong.. so strong.. but since he left even though he gives little away.. has dropped me like a bag of spuds.. or so it seems.. I was suffering so.. that I asked GOD to remove it... love for him.. and it seems like GOD has done that..

I do not know what it means though.. or what will happen..

If I can share a little more..

The one funny thing is.. even with kids.. I have extra time on my hands as I never did before.. I actually miss the presence of someone with me.. though my husband was never really with me to miss.. he worked nights.. so often not with me at night.. he did his own thing more often then not.. yet I miss someone..

Maybe GOD is making room for someone else?? I do not know.. but also I did have a really big hole in my life a little while ago.. a real horrid ache for someone but that seems gone right now too.. I mean I want to share my life with someone but I am at peace..

Thanks for sharing that bit more. However I do not understand all that you said for me to comment further as I fear I might say the wrong thing.
But moving on am I to understand when you say you are at peace you mean specifically in the area of wanting to share your life with another man rather than now being totally at peace?

The only way to heal from a Broken Heart is by asking Jesus Christ to help you. Jesus will deliver you from all of your problems. He is preparing you for the true love that will be entering your life sooner than later. Be grateful for this test because you must have a test to have a testimony!

Look at pics of lots of hotties...really...just keep reminding yourself that a broken heart won't heal on it's own and you have to give it your all to move on and heal...praying.

God does heal. How long it takes, only He knows. I've ben through my share of heartaches and each time, they hurt yet again. The only thing I've learned that God is faithful and that despite the pain, He can draw us close to Him.

I know this doesn't offer much help, but actually, this is what there is. How long it takes is between you and God. Time does heal.....through God.

I always thought that broken hearted verse implied broken from sin

Anyways what always makes me feel better is ruminating on the gospel and knowing that there's nothing I can do anyways. Whether it's bad or not I'll just throw it on him and let him burden it all. If I don't I will rely on my own thoughts and I will get down and my heart will burn with dissatisfaction till I stop worrying.

Not to be morbid, but sometimes it takes a long time. Every person, and every situation is different. I haven't even been married, but have taken years to recover from some relationships.
Keep on keepin on. Believe that it's God's will that your heart be healed, and it will come to be, sooner or later.

I know this was posted a month ago, but it seems timely. ((hugs))

Our hearts only heal when we place it where it belongs. It belongs to the one that created it for him.

Puzzles may seem scattered and frustrating to see it in it's entirety, but the neat thing is that it was purposely made to fit a certain way. There was purpose and a goal in how it would come apart and then how it would develop. We can put the pieces in random places, but it will not complete the picture and sometimes even cause damage.

Our hearts heal in only one way, and that is where it was meant to fall...
If it "fits", then it will lead to other areas comeing together. It's the same thing with our focus and trust. When we focus on God and not just know what He can do, but what he will...and follow through on that realization....He takes care of the rest. He makes you stronger, makes the picture clearer, makes decisions easier with confirmations of everything else in our life fitting together. Is'nt it freeing to know that "luck" isn't why we are, who we are or meant to be?

Do you have a good support system of family and friends to support you and do things with to simply remove your thoughts from it?

It's been 6 months for me and I'm not over it either, but the overall trend is better than say 3 months ago. If you loved deeply, heart committed, planned for the future with your spouse and looked forward to getting better with each passing day - then I think it will take awhile. How long, dunno. We'll find out. Prayer, family, friends and time (seems like way too much of it).

I will include you in my daily prayers peacechild4.
