How do atheists handle Thanksgiving?

Christians thank God for things like happy healthy children and lots of turkey leftovers. Who do atheists thank and what are they thankful for?

quite an arrogant thread to be honest.

i assume they thank the friends they're celebrating it with (ie. whoever made the turkey etc)

You think they thank their friends for their children? That would be awkward but to each their own.

For the turkey, I thank farmers, truck drivers, wholesalers, businessmen and businesswomen, supermarket employees... and this year even myself, since I'm a computer programmer who is just getting in to a project involving the electronic transmission of business information between supermarket chains and their suppliers.

For other "blessings" in my life, I thank whoever contributed to their creation, including myself.

I am thankful for whatever contributes to my life, and to the lives of those I care about. That includes loved ones (and their health and happiness), my employment, a peaceful neighborhood, my health, and other things that won't be too surprising.

Im thankful for to many things, too many to list. And i'm very grateful for all the good things in my life.

For my thanksgiving, im looking forward to beers with my old man and good cooking. Amen.

But seriously, we thank everyone who positively contributes to our lives. At least I do.

Oh yeah, Almost forgot. There will also be a virgin sacrifice to Cthulhu. followed by a reading from the Necronomicon. Then punch and pie will be served, YUM!!

I am thankful for Cthulhu and his great bounty. I should have some seafood this weekend.

Who do atheists thank and what are they thankful for?

I´d tend to think of "Thanksgiving" more as "Appreciation Day".
Because I can appreciate something fully even if in those rare occasions where I can´t seem to detect someone who has produced it and whom to be thankful for.

They should be happy that darwinian evolution is not taking the day off as a holiday. The weak are all part of the plan too. Not for long . . . but evolutionarily part of it for awhile.
