Every nurse on the OB floor has caught a baby. Unless you know there is something wrong, when you body says push, push. Babies should not have to wait on a doctor.
I agree. And I would also recommend waiting to push even if the doc says it's "time". Just because you're at 10cm doesn't mean that you're necessarily ready to push. Let me tell you it's MUCH easier to birth a baby with the cooperation of your body in pushing. With my first they told me to push when I was 10cm and it was hard work. With my second my body did the pushing for me and it was so much easier even though my second was a monster size of a baby!

i think my labour is going to be a slow one to get going!!!
I had pains again last night... much worse that the ones i had on monday night. They were about 7-10 mins apart for 4 - 4.5hours.
Then again... they fizzled!!! Grrrr....
I have lost some of my plug... don't think all of it...

The pains last night were intense... from the front of my uterus right round to the back... i had some horrible back pain last night!!!

Ah well... hopefully it means real labour isn't that far away!!!

Angelsgirl, I'm jealous. I've had Very few BH contractions this pregnancy, and even Fewer real contractions. I'm starting to think I'm going to be Seriously overdue &/or need to kick-start labor. *sigh*
Poor jgnoz!!!
I hope you don't go over due!!!

I have an appointment with my OB in half an hour... i;m hoping he says to me that i am ready to go...go off to hospital and have your baby!!!
Fat Chance of that though.
I would really like to know what my cervix is like though...

I totally agree. The darn nurses told me to stop pushing in the middle of a contraction as they ran to get the doctor. My baby would have been out right then if they hadn't stopped me. And I even tore when she receeded back in and I was forced to push her through "the ring of fire" yet again. Grrr. I must say though that I loved being able to push with the contractions. It really made the pain go away and gave my mind something else to concentrate on. Those contractions are insane! It's amazing your brain doesn't make you pass out. I opted for no epidural and no drugs. I made it too! But not something I want to try again for a long time anyway. LOL

Hi all! I noticed Angel hasn't been back since she posted she was going in. It sure sounded likely that things are starting. Didn't it?

Let's all pray for her an her baby if we get a chance. O.K?

I sure would have liked to know that a bunch of caring moms were praying for me during my labors. So, if you catch this, join in.

(Angel, if you come back without having gone into labor. We're still here for you, helping to pass the time!)

I ignore the medical people and push when I need to. I figure _someone_ will catch the baby. And I've had 2 without anyone there to catch at all (born on the bed).... Unassisted in the hospital is rather fun... the medical people freak out and run around like chickens. LOL

Still here!!! Thanks for the thoughts and prayers everyone... I really appreciate them!!!
The dr wasn't mush help at all... Wouldn't do an internal to see how my cervix was and I was SO tired and emotional that i didn't push it... cause i would've ended up in tears!!!
I don't think he really thought that I was having as much pain as I said I was... possibly cause this is my first baby. I think he still expects me to be at my next appointment on Tues. (Please God... i hope not!!!)

I got a full nights sleep last night, so I am feeling a little happier about the whole thing though... At worst I'll only have about 2 weeks to go!!!
My husband even went out to the spare room to let me get some sleep... he knows i sleep better in bed by myself... Isn't he sweet???

j, you're hilarious!

So ladies... any tips on how to bring on labour???

We did all of the above, but nothing worked.

What worked was the desperate prayers of my husband and doula who REALLY wanted me to have my week overdue baby THAT NIGHT. And it worked. :o When my dh woke up at 3am seeing I was in labour, he said, "I knew we were having a baby tonight!". He then called my doula, who answered the phone after one ring, as she was wide awake, waiting for us to call to tell her I was in labour!
