• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

That's horrible, truly horrible-- a company shouldn't be able to refuse service to someone just because they try to be self-reliant!! That's like the supermarket refusing to sell you food because you grow some of your own on your property!! First, it's none of their damn business, and second, it's bad for the country, encourages too much reliance on things out of our own control!!

I suggested not long ago in another thread that folks should consider giving the gift of solar power for these coming holidays!! Would that I could afford it as well!!

We also are taking very small steps toward limited independence and a closer connection to God's beautiful creation. One acre and just an electricity bill has meant so much to us former city-dwellers, and worth the many years of prayer in this direction. Knowing that my water comes from beneath my feet -- through a well of God's provision -- has helped me to appreciate this vital substance like never before. Plus, it tastes better than the lake fare we were accustomed to! The sky is bigger than suburbia allowed us to conceive; the horizon like a storybook. Come to the country, if God so leads you!

Many blessings,
Elizabeth

yes, NC - nearly as far NW as one can get in NC

I hear peak sighting should be between 11:30p and 1:30a - absolute best place is said to be NE US and SE Canada.... but I figure that without the light pollution we should be able to see a pretty good show here, as long as the skys stay clear

We live in Texas and from what I have heard our co=op electric buys back the excess energy. The problem is being able to afford the wind turbine.

I requested a homesteading forum and they referred me to the gardening forum. I told them it was not quite the same thing. They don't think there is enough interest in that sort of thing. It is in the suggest new forum section: http://christianforums.com/showthread.php?t=7219271
It would be helpful if anyone else who was interested said so.

Would love to hear about your soap making. I have played around with it a little myself.
