I do not believe in faith-only, where a simple profession of alleged "faith" in Jesus results in salvation. I do that God wishes to see faith expressed actively through faithfulness, loving-kindness, peace, etc.

Did Hitler profess faith, or did he live it out? Whether or not any particular person is saved or not is between him and God.

I said no in the poll because, based on everything I have read, there is no evidence that Hitler ever repented or asked for forgiveness for his actions.

I'd just add that if any such did happen it would have been immediately before his suicide and that the steps he arranged regarding that indicate he was not in any a changed man, unless one considers trying to remain a boogeyman after his death a step for the worse.

If I'm not mistaken, Hitler--who was born in Austria--was baptised as a Roman Catholic. I'm sure he didn't observe the sacraments, and never considered his actions as sins needing confession and penance. I'm no expert on Catholic doctrine but I think that once baptized, he would be still considered Catholic, though egregiously apostate. Could he be doing penance in Purgatory?

Salvation is by faith alone. Without this understanding all your good works are polluted by sin and self. The phrase 'faith alone' simply means that Christ does everything and has prepared good works for us to walk in from the beginning of time. The only part we play in our salvation is to understand that we have no part to play.

You should study Paul for he was a chosen instrument to preach the glad tidings of the glorious gospel of Christ.

Only God knows the real answer so we can only speculate. If we put aside any actions he did in his life, based upon my knowledge of what his beliefs were, he would not make it to heaven. The top ranking Nazi leaders were basically Pagans so based on hiss beliefs alone, he would not make it.

I not going to judge him on actions alone because there are always two sides to the story and you have to factor in numerous variables.

Hitler believed he was doing God's work:

"My feelings as a Christian points me to my Lord and Savior as a fighter. It points me to the man who once in loneliness, surrounded by a few followers, recognized these Jews for what they were and summoned men to fight against them and who, God's truth! was greatest not as a sufferer but as a fighter. In boundless love as a Christian and as a man I read through the passage which tells us how the Lord at last rose in His might and seized the scourge to drive out of the Temple the brood of vipers and adders. How terrific was His fight for the world against the Jewish poison. To-day, after two thousand years, with deepest emotion I recognize more profoundly than ever before the fact that it was for this that He had to shed His blood upon the Cross. As a Christian I have no duty to allow myself to be cheated, but I have the duty to be a fighter for truth and justice... And if there is anything which could demonstrate that we are acting rightly it is the distress that daily grows. For as a Christian I have also a duty to my own people."

God should really have corrected him at some point, by sending down an angel or something. It's a real pity He didn't.

Thank you for your response; however, I have a different canon, and I interpret them differently

Hitler in heaven is by definition not Hitler. What makes Hitler Hitler is bad stuff which Heaven, requiring repentance and purification of sin, knocks out.

So in a way, Hitler could never "make it" to Heaven, given that by the time he's there he's by definition not Hitler anymore.

Hello,

What are the best arguments for and against Hitler being in Heaven? I'm not looking for the easy outs such as "Hitler is not in Heaven because there is no Heaven".

Thank you!

Well, if I remember correctly, Hitler was Catholic, and Catholicism is one of the few Christian denominations that emphasizes the need of faith AND good works to get into heaven. By his personal beliefs, he would be in hell as he couldn't have possibly repented for the suffering he caused.

But by his personal beliefs, he was doing God's work. His anti-semitism was driven by his Catholicism

Thinking he was doing the work of god doesn't mean he was, also remember that he committed suicide, something Catholics believe is a one way ticket to hell.
