In the densely forested Bastar region of Chhattisgarh, Christian communities are facing increasing pressure from organizations such as the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP, or World Hindu Council). These groups use WhatsApp to rapidly mobilize mobs that confront Christians during vulnerable moments, particularly funerals, demanding they renounce their faith, reports Rest of World.

These attacks have intensified since Prime Minister Narendra Modi of the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party took office in 2014, the report notes, pointing to the expansion of internet access and the availability of cheap data that followed, which significantly impacted the country, especially its rural areas like the Bastar region where internet users now outnumber those in urban areas.

Hinduism = Demon worship.

Both a Christian news site and a Muslim news site agree that Hinduism is demonic. It is rare for Christians and Muslims to agree on theology, but this was profound.

The Theopolis Institute (Christian source) said "Passages such as Deuteronomy 32:16-19; 1 Corinthians 10:20; and 1 Timothy 4:1 tell us clearly enough that demonic powers and intelligences are behind false religion, and even behind false theology in the church. The activities of Satan and demons are not given much press between the covers of Scripture and deservedly so, since the Bible is primarily about God and his acts and his kingdom and not about the other side. On the other hand, Paul can write that he and the early church were not ignorant of the Devil’s schemes (2 Cor. 2:11). God in his wisdom has not left his people ignorant of those matters. At least, he has given his church the wherewithal, in the Bible and by his Spirit, to understand certain fundamental things about the Enemy and his ways. Demonic inspiration of false religion (which produces the sort of parallels we have considered, including the major paradigm in its pagan articulations) is one of the things that the Bible teaches quite clearly in the passages noted."

A Muslim source said "Hindus not only worship “gods” (devas) who resemble demons (e.g., Indra, Kali), but sometimes worship beings which they explicitly refer to as demons themselves. They call these beings “asuras” and “rakshasas.” For instance in Hinduism it is acceptable to worship asuras/rakshasas like Ravana, Mahisasura, and Barbarika."
