"Ever notice how the ones we look up to, as being examples of how we should live, the ones we think of as being Spiritual leaders, and the ones from whom we seek advice, are forever quoting scripture?"

There are many good reasons for that, but the one David used is one that we as Christians need to apply to our lives today, I think, more than at any other time.

We live in a day of many trials, toubles, stresses, and temptations. Our reactions to our circumstances can have a detrimental effect on our testimony.

So like David, we should hide His Word in our heart (memorize it) so that we do not give into the many temptations to sin that we face daily.

King David said in Psalm 119:11, "Thy Word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against Thee."

What do we have hidden in our hearts?

Nice reminder Gerry! And isn't it nice to know that once we have Gods Word hidden in our hearts. There's no way that anyone can ever take it away from us!

We can't hide it in our hearts if we aren't reading it. And even Jesus points to the fact we should do this when he says "It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God."

Just the very fact that He said "It is written", should show us where we can find what we need to hide in our hearts. I thank the Lord for giving us His written Word and allowing us to hide it in our hearts, where no one can ever take it away from us.

this is interesting ive got scripture all over my room on illuminous card stars - i see it when i turn the light on or cd player wen i open my door and they are slowly making it into other places in the house. It has really helped me to learn it though and take it in.

The thing that actually inspired me to do this was the song ''To you'' That was wrote by Darlene zschech it has a line in it that says "living with your promise written on my heart"

and i thought do i know all of Gods promises, how can they be written on my heart.

We were brought up in my house remembering passages of scripture.
The Psalms and the Proverbs, the Beatitudes, The Pauline promises, excerpts from the Gospel. My Dad always used to tell us that we should always hide God's word in our mind, especially in the good times, so that we could draw strength from those promises in those times we were so down that we could not or would not pick up our Bibles.

One of the chapters that comes to mind when I think of those wise words from him is 2 Tim 1. Although Paul knew he was facing death, the hope in this chapter (book even) is unequivocal. Hidden deep within my heart

That's like the freakin' best reminder for me!

Keeping the word inside our hearts will give us a new weapons against temptation. Everytime temptation strikes, i'd go, 'Get lost! God has told me you're looking to make trouble so i don't care what kind of tainted presents you got.'

Happy birthday dude! Wait i got a party hat for you
