  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm using Mac OS 10.3 and somehow my only account got turned into a "Standard" account. Now, I have no administrative access. I tried to modify the one user to be an administrator, but you need the username and the password of an administrator account on the machine. Basically, I'm locked completely out of all the administrative functions. I tried the password reset function booting from the sytem DVD, but it didn't work. I tried it again, just to make sure I didn't miss anything, and it still didn't work after that.

I'm really going nuts about this. I need my admin access back or I can't do very much to the system as far as program installations or even system updates! It looks like one of the passwords that I reset didn't correspond to any specific user, but I can't figure out how I could use that master password. If anybody has any ideas on how I can fix this, please PM me. I really need my admin access back terribly bad! I've tried everything I know how to do and I can't fix it with my knowledge alone.

you could also search the internet - there's a LOT of hacking websites that let you get past security.

When one of my professors locked himself out of his computer, my roomate used a boot utility to gain hacked admin access - enough to change the accounts around. It's scary, but it's useful... unless you want to buy a new computer.

I'm not sure how much stuff there is out there for macs, because I never look for it, but I know it exists.
