Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I second what McW said. This is a very nice place to be. We all have a good deal in common, and we have some disagreements as well, but our discussions about tend to be civil, with love for our Reformed brethren.

I am from Louisiana, and have been a member of a PCA (Presbyterin Church in America) for about 20 years. Before that I was Southern Baptist, and before that I was a Roman Catholic. I love to study history, theology and just about anything else.

I have been married for 23 years and my wife and I have four children (one in college, one will soon be going into the U.S. Navy and the younger two are still in school).

You will get to know us as time goes along, you can also look at our bios and what we have posted in the past.

Hey, Chris. I'm Elizabeth a.k.a. Lissa. I have just recently come to the Lord in this past year and been baptized in a Presbyterian church, my beloved home church. My family - Ma, Dad, and my brother - was, up until about four weeks ago, the anti-thesis of a church-going family, but now it seems that my father has come to believe in the existence of God and the substitutionary death of Christ, but he is torn between the Jehovah's Witnesses and the Lutheran church, my brother is having trouble growing in hsi faith, but is getting there, and my mother seems to have "officially" come to faith. My, my, if that doesn't make one a believer, what will? We've been attending a local Lutheran church with a pastor who knows some of our German family members and, though it is very different from my "home" there are very nice people there at the church.


Now after I've poured out to you a synopsis of my life's story...

Thanks for welcoming my friend! Chris, as dear McWilliams said, this is our "safe haven." Since we "Frozen Chosen" aren't the most popular people in the world, we don't seem to get many visitors here--which is their loss since the discussions here are rich and fruitful.

Thanks all for the warm reception and as requested by Cajun Huguenot I will tell you all a little bit about myself. The first and most important part my salvation. I was blessed to be saved at about the age of 10 while attending a non-denominational church in Yuma, Arizona. At this particular service we were watching a evangelical movie about Heaven and Hell after which there was an alter call. The Lord used that service to set my mind to thinking about what state my soul was in and were if I were to die I would be going. So during the alter call I felt my Lord call me I walked up the isle and before both God and man confessed my sins that night and believed. Though at that time I did not realize that it was not anything I had done I soon came to that understanding (Eph. 2:8-9). I was baptized into my new family about a week or two later. And ever since have seen the blessed fruits of salvation in my life. I currently live in Maryland and attend Trinity Reformed Baptist were I am as of today being considered for membership. The Lord has blessed me greatly in my life and in all I do I wish to glorify Him more.
I would like prayer in developing ever better and strengthened relationships with the friends I have made and special prayer for me in the areas of my personal devotions that I be more consistent in them, and also that I be less proud of things that I have done because I realize that all praise should be given to God. So that when I do boast it is in the Lord and Him alone.

Howdy and welcome to CF from a former Marylander! I was actually born in DC.

After reading your special prayer requests, I have a book to recommend. Humility by CJ Mahaney (I think Mahaney is the Pastor of a church in MD). My husband and I just read it and it is very good. I would recommend it to everyone interested in deepening their relationship with the Lord.
