For those who have more than 1 child...when and how did you decide to have your next child? We have one right now that is 2, before we consider having another one we have to take care of some finances but are looking foward to having another child in the next few years. I was just wondering if there is anything else to consider before having another child (ie. # of years between children, etc.) Thanks ladies

Ummm you might want to consider asking this in the main section of th parenting forum. This section is for women who are trying to get pregnant and dare I 99% of us don't even have one yet, so we can't really answer your question.

yeah, probably not the best place to ask

i wanted to have #2 pretty much within six months of having Justin (13 months) and we have been....well, I guess you could say actively trying ever since. We've hit a bump in the road as far as still TTC, but I am certainly grateful for Justin...and if he is all I ever get to have, I'm happy with that (as I keep trying to convince myself of just that).

We are about to start TTC #2 but I agree with the previous posters - you might post this in the main parenting forum or even women's discussion to get more feedback. Ideally I'd like our children to be 2 years apart -- to give me time to recover and so that they'll be close in age.

We started trying for the next one pretty soon after dd was born. I had originally wanted a 2 year age gap, but that has come and gone and we're still TTC.

As far as finances go I think there isn't actually that much of a jump in costs in going from 1 child to 2, well at least not initially. Although I don't think we would be trying for the next one if we were really struggling financially.

Another thing that has influenced our decision to start trying for the next one is that it will probably be the last one we have so I don't want too big an age gap.

Like Jessesgirl posted, if DD is the only child God is going to bless us with I will be happy, because I know how other ladies on here are longing for just one child, but we really would love another one. Even when you already have one it's still difficult emotionally to have been TTC for 2 years with no results.

We always believe that God will provide for us so having another child is not a problem. We have been TTC since my first child turned 1. And up to now since no news and both of us are healthy. We are thankful for our first child but long to have another to play and be a companion with him and to share our love. My boy is looking forward and have been praying to God to grant him a little sister or brother.

Well, we weren't exactly actively TTC as such, but we were aware of my fertile times.

My daughter will be 4 and a half when DS is born. There is 8 years between my sister and I, not sure how this gap will be with the kiddies though. I'm hoping the next one won't be so far after, but we'll see what happens. After DS is born, I will need to finish uni and hopefully complete my new grad year, then look at TTC again. But only God really knows what will happen.

We haven't used BC since DS was four months old, now he's one. Granted, I really didn't want to get pregnant until Remy turned one. Now I'm really hoping to get pregnant soon. lol We decided we're ready because hubby's making good money now and we're pretty settled in where we're at. Granted, we may be moving to IN within the next few months, but that's ok. We moved from VA to AL when I was 6 months pregnant and it wasn't too bad.

I don't normally post in here but since the question seems more open to all . . .

Bart told me he was open to having a 2nd child when our oldest was 18 months old. Because I honestly didn't think he would ever want another child I didn't plan much just jumped in. Even if we had planned it wouldn't have meant anything because he was let go/forced out of his job a week before we found out I was pregnant.

I weaned my daughter at 8.5 months to get AF back so we could start TTC again. It took 11 months to conceive my daughter so we wanted to get a good start, we were aiming for less than a 2 year gap. My son took 6 months to conceive, and we ended up with a 26 month gap. Which of course (thanks God) turned out to be perfect...
