  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

All 3 mention the Temple and stone upon stone being demolished [Luke 19:44 gives more detail concerning the destruction].
Matt and Mark mention the buildings
Mark and Luke mention the manner of stones

Isaiah 61:2 [Luke 4:19]
To call Year of good pleasure of Yahweh,
And a Day of Vengeance of our Elohim, To comfort all mourners

Harmonization of Matthew 24, Mark 13, Luke 21, Revelation and Josephus

Matthew 24:1
And Jesus coming out, departed from the Temple.
And His Disciples approached Him to show to Him the buildings of the Temple.
2 And Jesus said to them, “ are ye not seeing all these?
Amen I am saying to ye,
not no may be being left here stone upon stone, which not shall be being thrown-down.”

Mark 13:1
And He going forth out of the Temple,
one of His Disciples is saying to Him “Teacher! behold!
what manner of stones and what manner of buildings
2 And Jesus answering said to him, “thou are beholding these, the great buildings.
Not no may be being left here stone upon stone which not no may be being thrown-down

Luke 21
5 and of some saying concerning the Temple,
that to goodly stones and votive-offerings<334> it has been adorned<2885>
6 “These which ye are beholding.
Shall be coming days in which not shall be being left stone upon stone here which not shall be being thrown-down

Luke 19:44
And shall be leveling Thee, and Thy children within Thee;
and they shall not leave stone upon stone in Thee;
because Thou knewest not the time of the visitation of Thee.

OUT WITH THE OC

The Destruction of Jerusalem - George Peter Holford, 1805AD
Revelation 6:6
And I hear a voice in midst of the four living-ones saying:
"choinex of grain/wheat a denarius and three choinex of barleys a denarius, and the oil and the wine no you should be injuring".
The day on which Titus encompassed Jerusalem, was the feast of the Passover; and it is deserving of the very particular attention of the reader, that this was the anniversary of that memorable period in which the Jews crucified their Messiah............

The Temple now presented little more than a heap of ruins; and the Roman army as in triumph on the event, came and reared their ensigns against a fragment of the eastern gate,....
In executing the command of Titus, relative to the demolition of Jerusalem,
the Roman soldiers not only threw down the buildings, but even dug up their foundations, and so completely levelled the whole circuit of the city, that a stranger would scarcely have known that it had ever been inhabited by human beings.
Revelation 18:8
by this, in one day shall be arriving the blows of Her, death and sorrow and famine.
And in fire She shall be being burned, that strong Lord, the God, the one judging Her

All 3 passages ask the same 2 questions:
when? shall these be, [referring to the buildings and stones being demolished in Jerusalem]
and what? the sign

Genesis 1:1 (KJV)
Strong's Number G4592 matches the Greek σημεῖον (sēmeion) occurs 77 times in 69 verses

Matthew 24:3
Yet of Him sitting on the Mount of the Olives, the Disciples came toward to Him according to own saying "be telling! to us,
when? shall these be,
and what? the sign<4592>
of Thy parousia and together-finish<4930> of the age.

Mark 13
3 and of sitting of Him into the Mount of the Olives facing the Temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew inquired<1905> of Him privately
4 Tell us!
when? shall these be
and what? the sign<4592>
whenever may be being about<3195> these.

Luke 21
7 Yet they inquire<1905> of Him, saying, “Teacher!
when? then shall these be
And what? the sign<4592>
whenever may be being about<3195> these to becoming<1096>?

Each of those verses has the same exact form of the greek word #4592 which are also used in only 3 verses of Revelation.....

Revelation 12:
1 A great sign<4592> appeared in heaven:
a Woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under Her feet and a crown of twelve stars on Her head
3 And there was seen another sign<4592> in the heaven,
and behold! a great red Dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon His head seven diadems<1238>

Revelation 15:
1 And I saw another sign<4592> in the heaven, great and wonderful,
seven Messengers having the seven last blows/stripes,
that in these was completed the wrath of God

Sign/Signs in Olivet Discourse

Genesis 1:1 (NKJV)
Strong's Number G4592 matches the Greek σημεῖον (sēmeion),
which occurs 77 times in 69 verses

Matthew and Luke both mention Jonah.
Mark never mentions him at all in his Gospel

What about Jonah
What about Jonah

Matthew 12
38 Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered, saying, “Teacher, we want to see a sign from You.”
39 But He answered and said to them, “An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign,
and no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.

Matthew 16
1 Then the Pharisees and Sadducees came, and testing Him asked that He would show them a sign from heaven.
4 “A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign,
and no sign shall be given to it except the sign of the prophet[fn] Jonah.” And He left them and departed.

Luke 11:29
29 And while the crowds were thickly gathered together, He began to say, “This is an evil generation.
It seeks a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah the prophet.[fn]
30 “For as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so also the Son of Man will be to this generation.
32 “The men of Nineveh shall be resurrecting in the judgment with this generation and condemning it, for they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and behold! greater than Jonah here.

Mark 8:11
11 Then the Pharisees came out and began to dispute with Him, seeking from Him a sign from heaven, testing Him.
12 But He sighed deeply in His spirit, and said, “Why does this generation seek a sign? Assuredly, I say to you, no sign shall be given to this generation.”

Matthew 24
24 “For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.
30 “Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

Mark 13:22
For false christs and false prophets will rise and show signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.

Luke 21:11
11 “And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences;
and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven.
25 “And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring;

Genesis 1:1 (NKJV)

#4592 used 7 times in Revelation

Last time used:

Revelation 19:20 [Matthew 24:24 Mark 13:22]
Then the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who worked signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image.
These two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone.

All 3 verses use the exact same form of the word for "battle<4171>

Luke uses the word #181 in place of the 2nd use of the word battle "<tumult/confusion>".
Luke uses #4422<frighten> instead of #2360"

All 3 use "end<5056>"

4171. polemos pol'-em-os from pelomai (to bustle);
warfare (literally or figuratively; a single encounter or a series):--battle, fight, war.
2360. throeo thro-eh'-o from threomai to wail; to clamor, i.e. (by implication) to frighten:--trouble.
Matthew 24:6
Ye shall be being about yet to be hearing battles<4171> and tidings<189> of battles.
Be seeing not be being alarmed/troubled<2360>,
for is binding to becoming, but not as yet is being the end<5056>

Mark 13:7
Yet whenever ye should be hearing battles<2171> and tidings of battles ye be seeing, no be being alarmed/troubled<2360>,
for it is binding to be becoming but not as yet the end.

4422. ptoeo pto-eh'-o probably akin to the alternate of 4098 (through the idea of causing to fall) or to 4072 (through that of causing to fly away); to scare:--frighten

Luke 21:9
Yet whenever ye should be hearing battles<2171> and tulmuts<181> no be being frightened<4422>,
for it is binding these to be becoming but not immediately the end.

Battles #4171 is used in 4 verses of Gospels
including 2 verses in Luke, Luke 14:31
3 verses in the Epistles
9 verses in Revelation

Revelation 16:14
for they are spirits of demons, doing signs -- which go forth unto the kings of the land, and of the whole being-homed<3625>,
to bring them together to the battle<4171> of that great day of God the Almighty; --

Luke 14:31
'Or what king going on to engage with another king in battle<4171> doth not, having sat down,
first consult if he be able with ten thousand to meet him who with twenty thousand is coming against him?

1 Corinthians 14:8

for if also an uncertain sound a trumpet may give,
who shall prepare himself for battle<4171>?

Will continue this in next post, as it is longer than I intended............

Genesis 1:1 (NKJV)

Isaiah 13:4
The noise of a multitude in the mountains,
Like that of many people!
A tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together!
The LORD of hosts musters The army for battle.

Jeremiah 18:21
Therefore deliver up their children to the famine,
And pour out their blood
By the force of the sword;
Let their wives become widows
And bereaved of their children.
Let their men be put to death,
Their young men be slain
By the sword in battle.

This is what Josephus was describing prior to the Romans coming to siege Jerusalem:

The Destruction of Jerusalem - George Peter Holford, 1805AD

From the conquest of their country by Pompey, about sixty years B. C. the Jews had, on several occasions, manifested a refractory spirit ; but after Judas the Gaulonite and Sadduc the Pharisee had taught them, that submission to the Roman assessments would pave the way to a state of abject slavery, this temper displayed itself with increasing malignity and violence.
Rebellious tumults and insurrections became fame and more frequent and alarming ; and to these the mercenary exactions of Florus, the Roman governor, not a little contributed. At length Eleazer, son of the High Priest, persuaded those who officiated in the temple to reject the sacrifices of foreigners, and no longer to offer up prayers for them. Thus an insult was thrown upon Caesar, his sacrifice rejected, and the foundation of the Roman war laid.
