I know Senator Dianne Feinstein and have spoken with her many times. She actually gave our group of homeowners some good advice and was very helpful but, regarding this issue it appears she has fallen very short. Please Diane get back to the basics. We are innocent until proven guilty.

It's not Feinstein's job to interrogate an accuser

It seems the American way would be before opening one's mouth to know who the accuser is? Maybe it's just hearsay? Or maybe it's just a lie put out there by who knows who?

Once somebody told me that somebody told them that another person had told them.

Let the rumors begin.

She makes a powerful point about the slush fund for congressional perpetrators of sexual harassment, which Feinstein kept secret for decades, along with the rest of the preening women's rights champions. The hypocrisy is stunning. This is McCarthyism at its worst.

It's a sad irony that the Kavanaugh hearings have nothing to do with his qualifications, which are beyond reproach, but everything to do with politics. This is what happens when the Supreme Court takes on itself the power to write law that Congress would not pass, as it did in Roe v. Wade, thus polluting our national politics for four and a half decades running now, or when entrenched politicized bureaucrats are openly allowed to attempt to take down a duly elected president (here's looking at you, Jeff Sessions).

The letter from the accuser was not anonymous. Feinstein knows her name and the FBI knows her name. It's now up to the FBI.
Congress now has the letter with her name redacted.

Like Karl Rove said this morning on Fox, this is not a quote, the confirmation process has been out of order since the Bork mess.
Do you think it was right for the Republicans to delay voting on Garland for about 18 mths. until after the 2016 elections? Then that vote never happened.
The Dems. are trying to delay until after the 2018 elections.

The accuser wishes not to step forward.

OK

Until they do who knows who?

The FBI knows who she is. As law enforcement it's up to them what they do with the information.
Who do you want to know and why?

I think it had a whole lot more basis than the current attempt by the Dems. Scalia died on Feb 13, 2016, nine months before a presidential election. Obama's policies had been soundly rejected by the electorate in 2014, when the Pubs won an historic victory in Congress (9 Senate seats, 13 House seats) and even state-level positions. It was a stunning repudiation, and the Pubs declared that something as important as a SC nominee should be appointed by someone with the backing of the electorate. Americans thus went to the polls in November knowing full well that their vote would determine who sat in Scalia's seat. Indeed, this had been a campaign issue worked by both parties. That seems pretty reasonable and fair to me.

Currently, we have a sitting president that the people put in office. He is not yet 2 years into his first term. Democrats want to delay a SC nomination to await the results of a midterm election? To my knowledge, that has never been done before, and for very good reason.

Why is it that when "you guys on the right" have a valid point - as you appear to have here - you shoot yourselves in the foot:

1. The insane claim - and it really is insane - that the "left" wants to destroy capitalism. People say that both sides misrepresent other. While this is true, of course, to some degree, I suggest it is equally clear that at the present juncture in American public discourse, the "right" is doing the lion's share of the misrepresentation. Yes, there is a tiny fraction who are calling for the destruction of capitalism. But what this anchor is saying is basically an out-and-out lie.

2. The term "demon rats" - schoolyard name-calling at its most base.

Now, back to the issue of the accusation: I agree that Diane Feinstein was out of line.

But when "you guys" have a point, why do you go nuts and give the rest of us reason to think the right has - to use the words of your own - "gone bat*** crazy".

I need to make a correction. They delayed the hearings 293 days. It was purely a political move. Republicans didn't wait to get the opinion of the American people in any way shape or form.

Instead, 77 percent – including a whopping 62 percent of Republicans and 80 percent of independents – say Senate Republicans are “playing politics” with the court vacancy....
Within hours of Scalia’s death, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, a Kentucky Republican, said Obama shouldn’t bother to nominate a successor because he won’t schedule hearings or a confirmation vote. Because Obama has less than a year left in his term, McConnell said, he should not get to make a lifetime appointment – one that would likely shift the court dramatically to to the left – until voters elect a new president in November.

In selecting Garland, a moderate who is widely respected by lawmakers on both sides of the aisle, Obama followed through on his promise to challenge McConnell and name Scalia’s successor.

The Post reports that Ford took a polygraph test administered by an ex-FBI agent on the advice of a lawyer, Debra Katz. The Post reviewed the results, which showed Ford was speaking truthfully when she described the alleged incident.

Of course they are. EVERYTHING is politics here in DC.
