hrmmmm I recall getting them in anticipation of meeting with people to discuss faith when I was alone, but I do not remember getting them in prayer per se.Acceptance said:Did you ever get them when praying by youself? -- That's the part I don't understand, I would think it was nervousness from speaking in front of others (which btw is something I don't typically get nervous about), but because it happens in my own room with the door shut same as it does when I'm in public or with others, I just don't understand.
If I were going through this, I'd be searching the lives of the Saints and asking my priest to see if any such similar occurance has been experienced before. Most likely, whether good or bad, it has.Defens0rFidei said:What is the cold? It's the fires of Hell being driven away!
That's a good idea Photini. I will try to do that, and I think I know just the one too...the pastor at my church is being relocatedPhotini said:If I were going through this, I'd be searching the lives of the Saints and asking my priest to see if any such similar occurance has been experienced before. Awesome! I definitely don't believe in "coincidence."Acceptance said:Found out after church that day that my beloved pastor is going to that very church! Ya think God is trying to tell me something?!
LOL ! I never thought of it in that way!Defens0rFidei said:What is the cold? It's the fires of Hell being driven away!
I will share another event that came to mind. While still very much a Protestant, I was in a Christian book store . . there was a narrow display of books in a wood rack that I was looking over. You know how you sometimes unconsiously move your hand over the books you are looking at in case you want to pick one up? Well, as I was doing that, there was this very small book almost hiding by Jack Hayford called The Mary Miracle . . as soon as my hand passed over that book, a wind started to pour down me, with the cold sensation and shakes, and as soon as my hand moved past it, it stopped. .. I as somewhat surprised to say the least, and wondered if I had imagined it or I had just gotten the shivers .. so I moved my hand back to it, and the exact same thing happened. And the presence of the Holy Spirit became so strong . . my hand left the book again as I looked at the others around it, but when my hand passed over it again, the same experience ocured, this time stronger . . It was pretty clear that God wanted me to buy that book, so I did. This experience followed me all the way to the cashier.Acceptance said:Did you ever get them when praying by youself? -- That's the part I don't understand, I would think it was nervousness from speaking in front of others (which btw is something I don't typically get nervous about), but because it happens in my own room with the door shut same as it does when I'm in public or with others, I just don't understand.

That's an interesting thought, that could very well be. -- Not that I'm looking for something natural to explain away what could be the supernatural, but I don't want to think of something being God if it's not...ya knowDatingSmarts said:it could be that when you are in a meditative state your body goes into a state of deep relaxation....which causes a physiological response to lower the body temperature...ie your heart rate slows down, therefore bloodpumping slows down...also all the blood is rushing to the center of your body...and your skin feels cold as a result.
i notice that if I am stressed out and just think of jesus or say the name my body immediately relaxes and i can breathe better.
There can be that, but what I have described is not this at all. It is independent of a meditative state. I could share more but I am afraid to . .DatingSmarts said:it could be that when you are in a meditative state your body goes into a state of deep relaxation....which causes a physiological response to lower the body temperature...ie your heart rate slows down, therefore bloodpumping slows down...also all the blood is rushing to the center of your body...and your skin feels cold as a result.

Also, when I am in deep prayer in my icon corner, I often get this wonderful stirring feeling that centers right under my heart. I think my soul is being illumined in those times.
