  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Don't say God doesn't hate when there are instances in the scriptures where He surely did and still does.

God hated Esau . . . . why? . . and this is bigger than Esau by typology.

God hated the Nicolaitans . . . . Why? Again, bigger than just a name of a people. It is whole societies implied. (Rev.2.6,15)

Christ Jesus tells me that, his saints tell me that, his Church tells me that.

God figured out the salvation of the world, created light and the earth and the water and you're limiting him to mathematical imposibility standards... wow.

Yet he couldn't rid mankind of sin without killing his only begotten son. I'd say there's a lot god can not do.

IDK. NO clue. I'm not up on Angels and the requirements for angel forgiveness.

Honestly? I don't think anything is beyond God.

Can God create a triangle with three 90-degree angles?

But He didn't kill Him. Jesus offered Himself. By His act, Jesus demonstrated the Love of God inasmuch as He, Jesus, was that Love in human flesh. . . as you are supposed to be.

He didn't nail him to the cross, but the sacrifice needed to be made. I don't see how an omnipotent deity would need a sacrifice at all.

Because His Holiness [an ABSOLUTE Attribute] cannot have sin in its presence. You know, sorrta like the reason Lucifer got kicked out.

Satisfaction atonement (or even penal substitution theory) is just one type of atonement theology. It doesn't necessarily reflect an accurate (or complete) picture of what Christ did at the Cross.

There are quite a few theories of atonement, so I'll take the easy way out and post a Wiki link to all of them! heh.

IMHO there's probably a bit of truth in all of them, but none of them paint a complete, accurate picture of what God was doing at the Cross (complete understanding of which is no doubt an unattainable goal for us mere mortals ).

For your reading pleasure... It's not that long and really speaks to your comment.

So he's not omnipotent?
