  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

God and Jesus are both 'one'

Jesus is God.
And there is one God. One God.
He is the ever-existing, non-contingent, "I AM" John 8:58, Exodus 3:14
He is everything we need. He is the verb " I AM "
Jesus is God manifested in the flesh. I Tim 3:16
He is the complete God, not 1/3 of God, but God Himself who became a real flesh and blood finite man in time. John 1:1
In Him dwelt all the fullness of the Godhead. Not 1/3 of the fullness of the Godhead.
Col 2:9.
Jesus said to Phillip that if you have seen Me you have seen the Father. John14:9
The Father was in Him and He was in the Father. John 14:11
The Father and the Son coexist and coinhere, they are "into" each. They are distinct but never separate.
One of His names is Eternal Father. Isaiah 9:6
Jesus is God and there is only one God.
He is in the Father, and the Father is in Him and He was conceived in a Human virgin by the Holy Spirit. Matt 1:18
In resurrection His breath is the Holy Spirit. John 20:22
In resurrection He is the life giving Spirit. I Cor 15:45
He is The Spirit. II Cor 3:15
His eyes are the Spirit. Rev 5:6
He is a man in heaven standing at the right hand of God. Acts 7:56

How can all this be true?
Because He is also called Wonderful. Isaiah 9:6
He is our Savior God who abides in us and is so near. I Tim 2:3, Col 1:27

From Finland.

It is incredible reading when one reads the history of early church theologians when they tried to formulate the doctrines.

The Eastern church and Western church went back ´n forth with these issues in the late 3rd CTs into the 4rh CT. What is Jesus´relationship with the Father or with God. Was the pre-existent Jesus equal and eternal or as the Arians would have it that Jesus was created.

It is interesting how Grecian philosophic concepts would make this clear as time went on and into the 5th CT.

Just for now.

Shalom, David.

Can someone please help me understand how Jesus and God are both "One"? Is it because they both have the Son the Father and the Holy spirit??

Hi...

I just want to add to the other posts... that, in human terms it is hard to grasp this concept, that God is Father, Son and Holy Spirit, but, we know that with God nothing is impossible.

We must think of Him as God...I like to think of Jesus as being the human part of Him... the Word incarnate, that died and suffered on the cross for us.

The main thing is that we must love Him w/ all our mind, heart, soul and strength.
