Gluttony

How much exactly would lead you to be branded a glutton.

Each day I can eat the equivalent of two medium sized chickens....5 litres of water and about a litre of lemon juice or pure fruit juice.

I eat roughly 4 servings ofcarbs and 5 servings of fruit and vegetables.

I weigh in at 115kg I am 5'10" thats about 253 pounds.

It is impossible to say, JesusWalks. It varies from person to person.
That is why prudence is such an important virtue: the ability to judge correctly, based on the many circumstances and accidental data of reality, the right course of action and the right measure of our activities.

It is usually easy to say, whether on a given meal, we have eaten too much, too little or the right ammount. And by knowing ourselves we become able to correctly estimate what the right ammount will be in each meal or snack.
But it is impossible to devise a precise rule based on weight and height.

I'm 6ft 3 and weigh in at around 60~65Kg. I eat lots of different fruits and vegetables each day and have about one meal which has meat in it every day.

I consume no dairy milk and try to minimise my dairy intake. I also aim for 8 glasses of water each day.

Gluttony is consuming too much of one or many thing(s).

Wrong. If someone has reason to believe that you are starving yourself, or have any kind of eating disorder, it is very much their business. And I believe liposuction is an actual, literal business based on how much you weigh.

No Gluttony is a sin, I just dont know how it is defined, I used the food because I eat more than most people.

Actually I am obese by medical standards, but I only have six percent body fat...I am training for Olympic Trials.

You're addicted to food, I think. Unfortunately food is a particularly bad addiction, because you die unless you intake it.

Even by that Body Index thing? Because that really doesn't sound like obesity.

No by that height to weight chart.

Like Kolipo is 6 3 and weighs half of what I do at 5 10.

Also I read in a study that Pacific Islanders have the highest muscle weight in the world.....followed by Africans, I read it while at Uni I could be wrong, but we have burst energy and Africans have distance energy.

It has to do with diet and the fact that in the 1800s we were still in the stone age so strength was very important in society and survival.

Then the amount you eat isn't gluttanous. I always had the impression that it's not how much you eat per se, but how much you enjoy it. You could have a small sliver of cake, really really enjoy it, and be a glutton. If you're training for a sport, and have to force yourself to eat to fuel your body, there's no potential for gluttony.

I'd consider gluttony to be eating for the sake of eating even after you've had your fill. I'm guilty of doing this every so often.

For example, I looooooves me some Thanksgiving dinner. Ham, turkey, pie, mashed potatoes and gravy, dinner rolls, 3 or 4 glasses of milk... I get full, yet I keep eating, albeit slowly. Why? Because I freaking love to eat. It tastes good, and I enjoy it even if I know I'll get sick if I keep doing it.

I'd call that gluttony, although a good point is raised... where exactly in the Bible does it say it's a sin?

Chajara isn't there a hypocracy in celebrating a religion of compassion and kindness, by eating animals who were abused and tormented so they could get to your plate?

It's kind of ironic for christianity to claim to preach positive virtues, I'm sure if turkeys could talk they would disagree.

Yeah yeah, I know you don't like people eating animals. I don't like the fact that animals are abused before we eat them either. I /respect/ the animals I eat. I can hug a goat around the neck while at the same time wondering what it would taste like. I think they deserve happy, wholesome lives and an instant death before we take their meat. Fact is, we are predators even if we eat mostly grains and plants. Denying that, to me, is denying part of who we are.

I'm not going to go vegan in order to facilitate the closing of factory farms because I will lose massive amounts of weight if I cut milk, cheese, and meat out of my diet. I don't eat meat so often, but I drink lots of milk and eat cheese. If I were to remove animals from my diet I'd be removing the bulk of my calorie intake.

When I'm in a better position to make better food choices I will, but right now I live with someone who refuses to eat anything but junkfood and frozen dinners. She also happens to do most of the shopping. Sorry.
