Am I the only one who thinks the protagonist in Gattaca didn't actually deserve to be an astronaut? I agree that it wasn't right for society to judge him based on the circumstances of his birth, but I don't think that makes it any more right to commit fraud, lie about a potentially fatal heart condition that would probably prevent someone from becoming an astronaut even today, and basically erase the identity of another already broken and emotionally unstable individual.
