Wow....that is some powerful preaching against the "fundamental Baptists." Thanks for sharing this site Preach.

There's a point where fundamentalism goes too far, I believe this bogger deals with some of that.

I appreciate the author using the term "fundamental" baptists - because there are a lot of Reformed/Calvinist Baptists out there - I know, I am one.

At the same time I regret the fact that "fundamental" has taken on such a negative connotation. Now we think of "wild eyed extremists" when it should be what it says - someone who sticks to/believes in the fundamentals, the basics.

Yes, I appreciate the choice of language and it is a shame that the term "fundamentalist" has taken on negative connotations. When the term originated with the publication of The Fundamentals, it would have described me to a tee for sure. Now, it does not describe me at all. Weird.

Some words I want back. This (fundamentalist) is one of them. For my pastor one is legalism - the original meaning was self-justification. Now we use it when referring to church's rules of behavior, worship - you have to dress a certain way (i.e. no slacks for women), you have to have your music a certain way (no accompaniment). Oh, and I want "gay" back, but that's a whole other topic.

I inherited my copy from my father-in-law (may he continue to enjoy his present state of glorification). He wore the label "fundamentalist" proudly and suggested that if one denied being a fundamentalist then they simply were not a Christian. I miss him. He and my mother-in-law were killed in a car accident 9 years ago this month. It seems like yesterday. He (and the Holy Spirit) were responsible for my accepting as truth, the doctrines of grace. I cannot thank him enough for that.
