  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This thread had quite the clean up and was moved from Ethics & Morality which includes non-Christians, to Christian Philosophy & Ethics which is Christian only.

What needs to stop now is all the little insults and digs about the faith of the other member. If the noun in your sentences is "you" and the verbs are a criticism or are disparaging - rethink that sentence.

Try "I" statements. Instead of "you don't believe Jesus" or "you are wasting time", try "I believe Jesus when he says..." and "we are going to need to agree to disagree".

I will be watching this thread.

Luke 9:1-6 The he call his twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases. He sent them to preach the word of God and to heal the sick. And he said to them, take nothing for the journey nieither staffs or bags nor bread nor money: and do not have two tunics a piece. Whatever house you enter stay there, and from there depart. And whoever will not receive you. when you go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet as a testimony against them. so they departed and went though the towns. preaching the gospel and healing everywhere.

Read about the seventy others he sent out Luke 10:1-12 Jesus told them also not to take money or extra staff or money with them they were to stay at the same house that they entered and there wages was the food the house provided. They were poor and were to be worthy of their preach about the kingdom. they were not to take anything with them no weapons no money nothing just what they had on their bodies.

Then when he was about to be crucified Jesus told them to take money and buy a sword and a knapsack. he wanted them to be ready for anything to happen because they would be on there own until he sent the Holy Spirit to them to comfort them. Read Luke 22:35-38 And He said to them, when i sent you without moneybags knapsack and sandals did you lack anything, so they said nothing. Then He said to them, but now he who has money bag, let him take it, and likewise a knapsack: and he who has no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one. For i say to you that this which is written must still be accomplished in Me And he was numbered with the transgressors. For the things concerning Me have an end.

Jesus wants us to be prepared to spread the gospel. the rich young ruler was tested to see if he would do as Jesus wanting him to do. what if Jesus just wanted to see if he love God or money. what if Jesus was headed and the rich young ruler would have started to sell all he had and Jesus stopped him. we will never know because the rich young ruler falled the test. we can not love money more then God that is the lesson. i don't think God wants me to sell all i have he would want me to feed the poor cloth people visit the sick and those in prison. he would want me to give in the collection plate so that the Bills would be paid and he would have food in His house. Jesus wants us to use what we have to make more to bless more people to lead people to Christ sometimes it takes money to bring people to Christ with the good deeds in life we do. Thanks for the question.
