I am alarmed at the way that so many here are missing the point. They are looking at taking Christ out of the name and out of the main center of this board as nothing harmless. Anytime we remove Christ's name from anything, good things are not going to follow. I feel that taking Christ's name out of this board is not going to attract Atheists. I don't believe it will attract christians either. This board's new vision is nothing more than a cheap way of being politically correct. I don't think it is so much to ask for to have a christian message board reach out to atheist with the christian name. Why is it harmful to keep Christ's name on the board?

I agree I love seeing his name everyplace I go but I realized something recently. Christ must be in the heart of someone inorder to matter it is more than just seeing His Cherished Name posted on the wall. I believe that keeping Christ in the name would be better. I can not lie about that, but I am beginning to see where Christ is still in the heart of this place. Perhaps even stronger than before. I feel the Spirit beginning to permeate this situation a bit more with each post made. Keep praying God can move heaven and earth. You are a great poster by the way I enjoy reading your comments.

Guess what? There is a hell, there is no way of sugarcoating damnation. It is real. There is no way of sugarcoating sin. It isn't "bad habits" it's real problems and it is a matter of the heart. It is evil taking us away from God. No matter what people want to think, you cannot serve to masters. Just like you can't serve God and money, you can't serve God and the world. You have to make your choice.

No one can really serve the world because it is to diverse . God is our true unifier I believe that with all my heart and soul. He will see us through this matter and all that may follow. Serving God is something deep and lasting within our own being. Many serve God in name only as I am sure you know. Serving God has nothing to do with names it sure does have everything to do with love however. On that point I think we may all agree. God Bless and Thank you ...

I'm not speaking of YOU directly, I"m speaking to the many claiming God while rejecting many bible passages as true.
One girl rejects that the book of Job is true, she claims it's false based on her perceptions of God and God's love.

Absolutely, BUT A REAL ONE WHO IS OF HIM, WILL ALSO ACCEPT THAT SCRIPTURE AS INSPIRED BY GOD UPON BEING SHOWN THAT. Just as the Ethopian did when Philip used the Bible to witness Christ to him.

ie. His attributes of righteousness/holiness, justice and wrath aren't ERASED and cancelled out by His attribute of LOVE - yet people think becuz He loves, HE THEN CAN'T JUDGE or condemn.

So they create a god according to their human perception of what LOVE is, NOT WHAT GOD SAYS LOVE IS.
PEOPLE limit God by teaching the BIBLE what it needs to say about God. Who think they are the authority over what's true, not what they're taught by it.

Exactly. Anyone can take quotes our of context and make a God that they want. I can take out all the times that God was angry or that God gave discipline to His children and say, well it doesn't matter if I do right or wrong, I will not have any consequences. I think alot of times we confuse a God of love as a God who is a half neglective parent who gives everything the kid wants, but doesn't teach the child how to live right. You have consequences for the actions you take. Jesus died on the cross for our sins so that we would not see hell. He didn't die on the cross so that we will never have to take other responsibilities for our actions. He freed us from a eternal damnation. Not from any and all consequences. You can take what you want from the bible, and make it into your own ideas. But God's word is there and true.

I am keeping all of this in my prayers, which is why I was able to see that I need to state my case without direct attack to anyone, as I am trying to do. I want to attack the situation, not anyone specifically.

That's entirely worthless because nobody can agree on what it means to "believe the bible as God's word to us". Nobody can agree on what constitutes "adhering to the bible as the truth about God". There's no use in defining christianity with characteristics that not a single individual on earth will agree with. That's why I was hoping we could define christianity as believing in God and let Him be the one who shows us the characteristics. I guess that's too much to ask from you, though.

I'm not a believer of Christ because Nadiine thinks you have to agree with her opinions on x and y to be a "true" christian. I'm not a believer of Christ because of what I've read about Him in the bible. You're taking the focus off God by replacing him with a checklist of items which answers must line up with your answers in order to be a christian.

I have not "denied" the scripture. More accurately I've denied your opinions about scripture. It would be much more prudent to ask someone who doesn't believe in God at all.

I don't know, you could answer that question a heck of a lot better than I could. I don't think you've rejected the bible, but it's quite obvious you've limited God to your own ideals and preconceptions about him. You've locked him into a little box of conservative christianity where He can't do anything you disagree with.

I think you've become a little confused, I've been a christian my whole life

I disagree with you about the infallibility and trinity- my "biblical standard" obviously doesn't match up with yours. If I were someone who thought the central focus of christianity was the bible then right now I'd be accusing you of being unchristian because you don't agree with my biblical interpretations. However, like I said earlier, people are christian because they believe in Christ, not because they believe in their interpretations of scripture.

Also be careful with calling the bible the Word, that title is saved for God (John 1). It's safer to say the bible is the word, because I think a lot of bad things happen when you equate the two.

Sorry about that! I did not know you were a Christian, because when someone disputes that the Bible is the undisputed infallible word of God then, I tend to think they are not a Christian. How else would you know what God says? You can't rely on your "feelings" nor your emotions, and the thoughts you hear. That's your flesh, and when you become a Christian, that flesh is supposed to die. The Bible clearly states the Holy Spirit will be your teacher.

John 1 says this:

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

I would say it safe to say The Word is God, and contained in the Bible, therefore is the Word of God!

Actually, John 1 is an allusion to Genesis 1:1, with the intention of linking Jesus Christ with the God of creation. The event of Jesus' incarnation, therefore, had cosmic significance. The Word is Jesus Christ, the eternal, ultimate expression of God. In the OT God spoke the world into existence; in the gospel God spoke His final word through the Living Word, His Son. The phrase "The Word was God" attributes deity to the Word without defining all of the Godhead as "The Word".

The Bible is the Word of God.

At least we have to agree in the principles that are in the Bible. If we are Christians why not confess it? Why not putting up the cross, the ultimate Christian symbol that shows our beliefs and identity... and let everyone outside of "us" come in and experience our loving Christian family? If we are ashamed of our Lord our Lord would be ashamed of us.... He said it.. not me. If we are true Christians let the whole world see us and fellowship with us..without judgment and predudice against no one just like Christ... He loved all people as the creation of God, and children of God .... but He was not ashamed of His Father in Heaven either, he proclaimed he was the Son of the living God. As we are daughters and sons of our Father.
