Well for now I just want to focus on the origins of the god that the jews in the bible claimed to have litterally talked to way before Jesus came on the scene.

Got it.

Please research Eastern Orthodox Christianity if you get a chance.

Well, no, that's not right. That would be a confusion of justification and sanctification. The best summary in the Bible I can think of to explain works in relationship with the Gospel is Ephesians 2:10. That is to say, we are dead in sin, brought to life in Christ by God's grace through faith, for the purpose of doing good works. So then, where good works are lacking, it's a mark that the person is not born anew. Christ explains this when He says in John 15:5 that apart from Him we can do nothing, and again in Matthew 7:15-20, that a healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit.

From a theological point of view, it might be a good idea to look at what sin is - the gravity of it - in order to get a good understanding for what God's Law is, and what its purpose is. Or rather, we look at the Law to understand what sin is. If we understand these things, then the Gospel, the way of salvation as spoken of throughout the whole Bible, will make sense.

From a historical point of view, it may be a good idea to read about what has been condemned by the Church as heresy, and also the writings of the Church Fathers, and confessional texts from the Reformation era. This will debunk large portions of modern scholarly ideas that are floating on the internet, which suffers from poor exegesis and severe mishandling of God's Word.

Anyway, I'll leave this for now as this isn't really the right thread for discussion.

Which is why there are two types of christians here, those who believe in Lordship Salvation and those who believe in OSAS. Both cannot be true and only one is correct. Pick your crowd.

Hello android17ak47
A warm welcome to the forums! Hope you will enjoy your time here. You'll find people here from a variety of traditions and across the theological spectrum, so hopefully you'll get a diverse variety of viewpoints.
Earlier on in my Christian walk, I had a very rigid approach to my faith. Christianity, for me, was very much like a set restaurant menu. Any variation to what was offered was simply out of the question. To consider alternative ways of looking at things was viewed as treacherous and suspicious.
I used to be a person who claimed to have all the right answers for every situation. Today, my approach to theology is radically different. I realise now that I know very little and have a huge amount to learn. The world and universe in which we live is an incredibly complex place and everyone's life story and journey is very different. Considering the omniscience and omnipotence of our Creator, for me to claim that I know the entire mind of God about every situation is absurd at best, and blasphemous at worst.
All I know is that through reading the scriptures, I have experienced a life-changing encounter with Christ, and have been drawn to Him by his radical love, mercy and grace. That encounter has brought to me healing, hope and an entirely new purpose for living. My life today is not about knowing all of the right answers, but sharing the love and hope I have received with others.

Welcome

I went to a fundamentalist Baptist school for a while growing up. Nearly killed my faith & ruined my education. Got things back on track when we moved away from that, switched churches & schooling. So I may understand where you're coming from in some regards.

Anyhow, to answer the question. There's quite a few atheists on here. One of them told me he wasn't allowed to post in any of the areas that are Christians only.

Also be on the look out for sections that are specific to denominations. Some let atheists & other folks post, some don't, some let you but have stipulations. There's also sections that are specific for ages, for married or singled folks. It can be hard to take notice especially if you just click on things on the side bar. One thing I do is I get rid of the side bar. On the top of the home page you can click a button, get rid of the side bar. If you do click on threads on the side bar before you give up your time writing a post, take notice of the section.

This forum is not a fundamentalist or judgmental church. You have experienced fundamentalists and Mormons, but most Christians are not like them.
