I am only relating to you the context in which those verses are used in these forums, as a 'definition' of atheism. So? How does that equate to "punish, vilify, and kill them?" These verses explain that is impossible to be perfect. Nothing more. But I will research further.
History of atheism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Ancient Levant
Some believe the concept of atheism was apparently known to the ancient Jews and viewed negatively by the authors of the Biblical texts. Psalm 14:13 reads "The fool says in his heart 'There is no God.' They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good."."

Where to start?
I disagree. Religions that are tolerant, and do not practice tribalism, risk fading into obscurity. Fail to indoctrinate the children, and insulate them from other influences, and a religion could be gone in a generation. They are intolerant by design.Yes, that's where you get all your non-canonical "Apocrypha" books such as the book of Jubilees and Tobit. Those have no business being in the Bible as they are of dubious origin. And frankly, some versions of the Bible just plain suck, as they are poorly translated due to limited availability of source material...yeah, those crusades you're talking about down there?
That's not the fault of Bible doctrine. We need to be tolerant of others regardless of their beliefs. Religious people can't grok this concept for the life of them, and I fully sympathize with you. Everything turns into a p***ing match.
I cannot parse this.If refusing to live a life of slavery is wrong, I don't wanna be right.
Oh, like Catholicism? Yeah, you got me there...
