Hi Susie
Yup, the snow's gonna be here 'til Sun, with 15-40 degree weather.
Finally got the house-temp. above 64; now to getting (broken2yrs) waterHeater fixed
hey -
2 feet of snow, is NOTHINGwhen I was a wiffle-kid in Germany,
we'd go to sleep w/ 3 ft down, & awaken w/ 5+ ft. (Front-door?? & windows??. Nope) -
yeah, they'd shovel a 2ft. wide path, so us kids could SKIto school, one mile away.
That is why, at one yrs. of age, they started us on skis,
because we needed 4 years of practice, to gain competency...for Kindergarten.
HUGS ? ----> (((((())))))
oh THAT-complicationI experience repeatedly.
At my last job, we had a nurse, in RN-school, on
psychotropic meds, with unpredictableMeltdowns.
She'd go OFF, right in your face s-c-r-e-a-m-i-n-g
Then,
when she was confronted, she'd"I can't (boo-hoo) take it anymore".
Honestly, BEFORE! she cripples or kills somebody, they need to pull her license.
Unfortunately, stuff like that happensdaily... world is totally insane!!
Good morning dear ones (((((((((((((Brenda and Annie))))))))))))))))))) Just wanted to say a quick "Hi". Brenda, I will do just that, I will put on my comfy socks and slippers, read a good book and be cozy, only trouble, it is STILL snowing, the state plow man has just come by and when he does, he puts a huge mound of snow in our driveway, this is too much for me or dad so now, I will have to call someone to help us. Ugh, I love snow, but not all that goes with it.
Hi Annie, hope you are doing well today, what part of Germany did you live in?
Talk to everyone later.
Hugs to all.
Hi Brenda & Susie & everybody,
"Rising...above great odds": oh, my kinda movie,
both personally, as well as my Favorite sportsters:
1.
Here, watch the Protopopovs: (Type in their name, & this performance at U-tube, to be equally enthralled......
I think it infringes on Copyright, to show the movie
here.)
Ludmila & Oleg (here in their 50's, now in 70's)
This legendary pair changed the world of figure skating -- turning it
into the art, rather then just sport, which captivated the world immediately.
Here
they skate at 1985 Worlds Pro AP -- to a perfect 10 to "Moonlight Sonata" (which
incidentally is the 1st. piece of music I taught myselfon the piano in 1976).
This music touched them emotionally the most -- they came back to it many times
through their career, w/ Competition Highlights:
(Figure Skating - By Category champions/p/protopopovs.htm)
You will never find a more graceful pair of skaters ever! So smooth, flawless, Such beautiful edges and lines! Every move done with precise attention to detail! - Frankly, there are NO words to describe them, & they hold us skaters
- 1968 World Championships - 1st
- 1968 Olympic Games - 1st
- 1968 European Championships - 1st
- 1967 World Championships - 1st
- 1966 World Championships - 1st
- 1965 World Championships - 1st
- 1964 World Championships - 2nd
- 1964 Olympic Games - 1st and what is even more amazing, than them winning back-to-back golds, is that
- at 30, they were told by their Russians "you are both TOO old!!" for world stage, prior to all their magnificent triumphs... ("Rising...
above great odds") eh? - These 2 steadfastly refused, to let Age stop them. PRAISE...God! completely mesmerized --- oh, to be able to skate like them...

Top-skaters have like a "trademark" move they invent,
and Lyudmila and Oleg are known for their beautiful back outside death spirals, which they fortunately renamed "LIFE-spirals." - Lyudmila's head came very close to touching the ice when they did that move. The Protopopovs are also credited for inventing other variations of the death spiral. They gave their death spirals three different names: "the life spiral, the love spiral and the cosmic spiral."
Some champions started when they were in late teens, with Ludmila 16. - This ledendary pair are now in their seventies and they still skate daily, having had a wonderful professional skating career. They're living proof that you don't need to start as a young child to become a wonderful skater and have a successful skating career.
To be 50 & 70 in such great shape is astounding! and what comes across in EACH of their performances is the undeniable LOVE for eachother, & for their sport. Since they can do it, why not the rest of us?
More later...Hopefully you ENJOY.......
