Figuring out God's purpose for your life

I would say for me personally, is that God's purpose for my life is to live for Him. That may manifest itself in many ways in the future. But one thing that I am very passionate about that Jesus was too is helping the poor and broken. I see how self-serving my nation has become and everything is about making a buck instead of helping the people who need it.

But that hasn't always been the case. Sometimes we aren't at a place to help others grow, yet. So we have to grow ourselves, Grow in Christ. We might not see a future purpose because our purpose at that time is to delve into him pray, fast, and worship God read his Word. Also we sometimes get caught up in the fantastical things others are doing and think, well God must want that from me. But you think, well I want to work at this company without realizing that God wants you there. Saving souls isn't all done in under developed countries and missionaries are everywhere when you witness to a neighbor or a friend or a co-worker you are missionary for Jesus. (not saying that going over seas is not important, it's just other important things should be happening in your area too, and it can start with you)

The key behind it is that we must be faithful to God in whatever state of life we currently are. Remember when Jesus said "thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will set thee over many things; enter thou into the joy of thy lord?"

As a rule of thumb, to me it would be:

- Be doing His will. This includes taking time to pray, and also to be in silence before Him, letting Him do the speaking.
- Be open to the changes He wants to make in you, in your situation, and in your environment.
- Be willing to accept and live those changes in a humble attitude.

Sometimes confirmation of your calling (God's purpose in your life) will come by others around you; sometimes it will come by a persistent thought in your mind; sometimes it will come through a preach, the Scriptures, or some other way. Just remember that, at any rate, if the calling comes from God, His purpose is, as St. Paul says, our sanctification.
