Females: Do you like guys only of your own race?

I am african american and I can say that I never have been attracted to anyone outside of my own race. Not to say that I couldn't because there are so many other things to consider when starting a relationship with someone. Race is one of the least important factors to me. I don't want to miss the person God has for me because I have this idea in my mind of what he should look like. I mostly care about his relationship with God, his character, and his treatment of me, his family, and others.

Hey I have been attracted to men of all kinds of race. It really isn't the color issue it is the issue of if you like that person for who he is and not, I mean not what he is.

I am African American. I have not been very attracted to many of my own race; however, there are exceptions. However, the main reason for this is not because of skin color, but for other factors that include personality.

I also don't seem to understand where the entire topic of political correctness found the door to this thread.

A simple yes or no response to the original question would have been enough.
Let us keep away from accusations.

This is a little off the subject but.. I was once dating an asian guy and I had to go by his parent's house and pick something for him one time. His mom invited me in and we talked for a little bit. She started telling me how she was cooking for a family event coming up and then turned to me and said "You're not picky are you? White girls are always so picky." She gave me this look of disgust and rolled her eyes. I started laughing!.. She didn't laugh. Truth is.. I am kinda picky about what I eat sometimes?!?!? ha!ha! Anyway, the relationship didn't work out but it didn't have anything to do with race. I've found that there are cultural boundaries if your boyfriend's family is "fresh off the boat" no matter what race they are. If I ever dated anyone who's family was from another country, I might try to research their culture a little bit or put extra effort in to making sure we could communicate.

Caelda... I think I love you! You have your head on right. In addition to my previous statements I want to add that I think many white women date black men because they want to rebel against their parents or society OR they have low self esteem. Let me stop here to say that I know there are some decent black christian men out there. BUT, from my experience white girls usually pick the worst {edit} ou there. I think the overweight or unattractive girls with black guys have low self esteem while the pretty ones may have been raised by a single parent. When the mom raises a child and the father's values are absent the daughter often seeks the missing male companionship of the father in a relationship from other men. I believe by dating a black man many young women do so with the intention of rebeling and doing the opposite of what most people believe is right. Especially the standards of the conservative white male population. I hope I offended some liberals with this. Oh, okay. I get it. Everyone else can give an opinion, but I'm not allowed to? Every thread on here, people elaborate on what they're saying. I have an opinion on the way people are responding. Guess it wasn't politically correct to say it. I don't see a simple "yes or no" answer from anyone who responded.

I'm opinionated and I'll say what I have on my mind. Accusations? I'm just throwing out there what I see. Take it as you will.

I am a white girl and I myself have been attracted to black guys, and they were not 'thugs'. They were really nice guys(both my parents raised me, and I have a great relationship with my father)and I wasn't attracted to them out of a need to rebel, I know my parents would be cool with it if I ever brought home a black man, as long as he was a good man, as well, in Canada nobody even cares anymore about stuff like that. Also I have known a couple where the woman was white and the guy was black, and they were both the sweetest people in the world, I don't understand where you got this idea from. I don't think I have ever met a couple like the one you're describing.

God created all races, He loves everyperson equally, and I don't ever remember reading a verse in the Bible that endorsed segregation of any kind. If I am wrong please show me the reference.

Also you say you have several black friends whom you love as your christian brothers? Well what would happen if they started dating white girls, like for instance your sister or some of your white girl friends? would you still love them as your brothers?

Interesting, I've never heard or read anyone equating their racial prejudice as some sort of value worthy of being passed on to the next generation ... except for the KKK, Black Panthers, etc ... If you want to be lumped in with these guys, go for it. I do wonder about how you plan to teach your kids that everyone is equal and deserving of love in the eyes of God, yet you, as their father, don't want them to be in relationships with blacks. Sounds like you're setting yourself up for a major fall in the eyes of your children and possibly one of those "rebellious interracial relationships" from your kids .... But I digress ...

I really worry about you. Are you living in areas where the races are integrated, i.e. live in the same neighborhoods, attend the same schools, etc and so forth. I just don't get the source of why you would think that black women/white men and white women/black men relationship pairings are so wrong. There just doesn't seem to be any logic behind it ... you're speaking purely from emotion. Plus if you've never experienced it yourself, how can you be so quick to say its wrong or something you don't desire? You've lived vicariously through talk shows and limited interaction with couples at church. Maybe if you took the time to actually get the know some of these couples, you'd stop focusing on what is so "wrong" and see what is so "right".

Everybody has an opinion. Everybody can have an opinion without arguing and pointing the fingers at other peoples' directions. And before you all get into a shouting contest, please back down and go to time out. Also just settle down and talk it out like civilized human beings. Craig, we all are on the earth no matter what race, color, creed, ethincity, religion, and/or gender. I will be praying for your soul and give God to take over the judgement. Because if I and/or anybody on this board judges you, we all would get into a heated argument. So let's leave the judging out to God.

ehh, I love culture ...and I would date any christian guy regardless of his race it would have to be his heart that matters! I know some spanish too... and I've had a spanish boyfriend but not any more... cuz it was an online relationship and it got to hard...cuz he started going to college and this is around the time of 9/11 was going on (he lives in nyc!) and I didn't know he was spanish for a longg time! and in my church there is a married couple a peruvian/white couple and a few black/white relationships and no they are certianly not thugs! Lol cuz they are the assistant pastors sons and they follow in their dads footsteps

their dad is also my choir director! He is a cool guy too! i've known him practically all my life! and of course our family's good friend russel and his wife and kids (they are all black) but russell is so funny and he comes to my birthday partys and and and gives me nice things lol so for me its all good! (yes I am a hyper right now Lol)

My boyfriend is an Aussie....I am of an Asian background....
He likes girls with dark long hair....and big brown eyes....

This is why I stay out of arguments like this because first of all, this topic should not be on a Christian board--why because I feel like this, what difference does it make here, if a white woman date a black man or a black woman date a white man. Color should not be an issue, especially in the body of christ and those who are professed christians. But even in the body we make it so and no wonder the secular world looks as us as with an eye of disbelief instead of worrying about the most important thing and that is your eternal salvation.

I agree it is to do with personality. When my brother started dating a girl who was of asian descent, some friends i had (non-Christian ones) were very racist and said he should marry a white girl. I never talk to those friends anymore. As Christians we see people for who they are and not what they look like..and that goes for looks, size, and race. Although I believe we are attracted to particular people for personality and looks....although beauty is completely in the eye of the beholder.
