My wife and I are attending a Lutheran church nearby. I think we have found our home church. I think I will fellowship around here for awhile.

In CF, I am cutting back, especially debating. I still will speak up when I hear doctrines that I disagree with. Thinking theologically is a tough thing to do for many including pastors. When I was younger, I believed in certain doctrines but now that I am spiritually matured, I have learned the proper doctrines which means I got wiser spiritually. James wrote in James 3:17 "The wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere". Godly wisdom is undefiled and free from the corruption that characterizes ungodly wisdom. It is free from selfishness and the determination to have one's own way. This describes both the condition of the heart and the manifestation of that condition in behavior. This is another quality of Christ produced in the heart and life of His children (cf. I John 3:3). We’re commanded to study and meditate on Scripture (Joshua 1:8; Ps. 1:1-2). We’re instructed to cultivate wisdom and discernment (Prov. 4:5-8). We’re told to walk wisely and make the most of our time (Eph. 5:15-16). We’re ordered to be obedient to God’s commands (Deut. 28:1-2; Jn. 15:14).

One respected theologian said “Don’t be a spiritual lone ranger… draw on the wisdom of those who are wiser than you are; take advice.”

Its time to have TRUE fellowship with Christians who have in common with:
That if we have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from His love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make our joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. (Philippians 2:1-2).

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God (Colossians 3:16).

Welcome to the conservative side of TCL Jim

Don't get too frustrated if you find yourself disagreeing with some of the other conservative members here, and beware if you fin yourslef agreeing with the liberals There are of course some who believe scripture as written, so I'm not condemning them.

I like the last two scripture passages you quoted.

Have you found any doctrines that you still question? Also, have you started an adult bible/membership class yet?

Thanks !!

I have been studying Luther's doctrine for years and I am learning to understand LCMS's views and so far, I don't see any major essential doctrine issues. The pastor I am meeting with is helpful and he is willing to give me time to help understand more. He is a good pastor.

Glad to see you here, Jim! I have always enjoyed reading your posts in other sections of the site. It's very nice to have you come "home".

Thank you sir.

My wife and I have been searching for so long so we BOTH can enjoy worshiping and getting close to God. I just didn't realized that LCMS's views are so close to mine even though I am from Reformed theology.
